A few nights ago I had this very strange and distrubing dream. It’s been on my mind and kind of bugging me. I dreamed that someone or something was drawing of me through my back a stream of this light. It was actually painful, it felt like my soul and whatever it was felt very evil! I can almost feel it when I think about it!

Strange how your brain works while you sleep. We collect all this data all day and it gets mixed up.

I have odd dreams every night, and “very odd” dreams at least weekly. If I were to take them seriously, I would be spending much of my waking time trying to figure them out, since some of them have a significant impact my emotional state when I wake up. As it is, I just write them off as the subconscious mind’s attempt to make sense of random neural firings during sleep. This lets me enjoy my dream life as an alternate world that I visit every night.

Dream on 😃

I dream every night and like you I just pretty much blow off the odd ones 🙂 but once in great while you get this one that has a n evil spin to it and it stays with you for a few days. I haven’t felt that kind of powerful dream in a really long time. Nor have I ever had a dream where it felt like the devil, it was scary. Not only that, but I could feel it the next day not just mentally but physcially.

I do know stress can be a **big **actor in having bad dreams , I’ve been under more lately so that could be it.

I should probably say I didn’t mean to make my first post sound so serious :o

Wednesday night I dreamed I was alive in the time of the Roman Empire, and met St. Peter for a brief moment. Unfortunately, dreams always share unexpected detailing from your daily life. So St. Peter looked strikingly similar to one of the American Idol contestants. . . .

I think a lot of us have disturbing dreams now and again - certainly stress usually plays a factor in when they occur for me.

I’d just pray to St Michael the Archangel for protection any time anything really bothers you.

I have had some very disturbing dreams also and they are hard to shake and they often stay with you.

I also have some of my dearly departed half-brother and it is as if he is right there in front of me…I can see his face and his hair.

Sometimes dreams are just manifestations of something going on in your daily life that your subconscious is trying to deal with.

:rotfl:

Last night I dreamed I was setting in some living room chatting with Kevin Spacey, now I have NO idea why he played the special guest star in my dream last night but it was out of the blue. I don’t think I’ve even seen him in anything for a few years. He was the last person on my mine that’s for sure! How funny. I must have picked up on something someone said and it got stuck in my subconscience.

I think we don’t realize how much conversation we picked up on durning the day. We are not really listening to the TV but certian words or phrases get in our heads anyway. Or maybe people just talking does it.

Ya know Lily, I never thought of St. Micheal. I guess I’m still too new a Catholic to know what to fall back on. Great idea 🙂

I have this same sort of dreams about my dad sometimes. I haven’t in a long time though. I’ll never forget shortly after he died I had this dream that he was sitting on the same bar stool in our family room and he had all the clothes on that we buried him in, I don’t mean for that to sound creepy, it wasn’t at all. Anyway, he always sat there and had his little shot of whiskey. He looked over at me and said in the most calm voice “I’m ok, I am happy”

I don’t know if I believe in our dearly departed visiting us in dreams. It could be that I was so lonely for him that I willed the dream, who knows. But it did feel so real and I felt better afterward.

I’ve had strange dreams from my childhood, some prophetic, four months before the underwater earth-quake I was right there at the ocean floor looking at it. (tsunami)

The earth opened and a bright light shone out of it, and then the bubbling water and the massive wave.

My latest is looking at the earth just like the astronauts and the next thing another planet very close to it, almost like two earths, I don’t know what this means if anything.

Then a Heaven dream I had as a child, I already posted that one, Our Lady came to me in a dream crying about four years ago, some dreams just make no sense.

What if God is trying to communicate something important to you by way of the dream?

Job 33:15-18

15 "In a dream, a vision of the night, When sound sleep falls on men, While they slumber in their beds,

16 Then He opens the ears of men, And seals their instruction,

17 That He may turn man aside from his conduct, And keep man from pride;

18 He keeps back his soul from the pit, And his life from passing over into Sheol.

I think that dreams speak in the language of symbol, and because we are not fluent in that language, we think they are “weird”. however, scripture and church tradition, as well as the lives of the saints, indicate that God speaks to us in dreams.

I don’t think that is unfortunate at all. I think our psyche borrows images from our daily life to represent things that are going on in the soul.

Are they not in the communion of saints? It is true that people that have passed over are not as accessible to us as they may have been when alive on earth. But if we don’ t believe people are alive and active after death, why do we ask the saints for their intercession?

I am sure it does mean something!

I think if we took our dreams more seriously, we would get much further faster!

I often have strange dreams. I had a tidal wave dream in which I drowned last year within a week of my son’s drowning.

More troubling was one I had last month. I was descending some stairs in an auditorium type room when someone behind me put their arms around me and continued down the stairs with me. At first, I was just curious about the identity of the person. When we reached the bottom, the arms became like a big hand tight around me. I could feel it pulling me down through the floor. Down. Down. I prayed the Lord’s Prayer and the Hail Mary. I got halfway through the Hail Mary before waking up. I physically felt the negative nature of the vice like grip. I was afraid. When I woke up, I felt as though I had been attacked.

I once drempt that I was about to be gang raped. I prayed the “Our Father” in my dream, and as I did so, I was surrounded by a protective ball of light. After I finished the prayer, I woke up.

It sure was weird, I don’t know why I’m getting these dreams more often… REV: ? could be you never know, and boy don’t we need a new spring cleaned earth.

There are dreams that stick with me, and others well I can scarcely remember.

One time as a child I had this brand new bike in my dream, my dream bike, 🙂 when I awoke I was looking around my bed to see if it was still there. :nope: I hate those dreams.

Dreamt the lottery numbers, but could only remember 3 numbers, so I put the ones I remembered down on the sheet, and had to guess 3 others.

The three I remembered sure enough came up that night, and the others ? nope, now who needs dreams like that, I guess I wasn’t meant to win, even though I’ve vowed to give a whack of it to the poor.
