Anyone ever had a very odd dream?

I’ve had a great many odd dreams, but in my case, “odd” doesn’t mean “bad” or “evil”. One odd dream I had made such an impact on me that I wrote a poem about it. Funny thing was, a particular town featured prominently in the dream, and when I woke up, I got out an atlas to see if there actually was a town by that name in my state --and there was! I didn’t recognize the name, but I must have seen or heard it somewhere.

Are they not in the communion of saints? It is true that people that have passed over are not as accessible to us as they may have been when alive on earth. But if we don’ t believe people are alive and active after death, why do we ask the saints for their intercession?
I agree guanophore, you make some good points 🙂

I probably should have titled this “had a really scary dream” 🙂 It was a bit more than odd I guess.

I’ve had strange dreams from my childhood, some prophetic, four months before the underwater earth-quake I was right there at the ocean floor looking at it. (tsunami)
I’ve had similar dreams Eire, I had a few disturbing dreams right before 9-11. Explosions and fire and lots of people being killed. I didn’t know what it was about. I wonder if you pick stuff up from the news and it just sicks in our heads? Or is it prohetic? I guess we will never know.

I can’t say I had a dream, but I did visit New York and at the WTC about three weeks or so before 9-11. I noticed that there was more security there than most other tourist spots in NYC. I remembered that there had been an attempt to bomb the WTC in the 90s and the thought occurred to me that it was actually a worthwhile terrorist target. I was a tiny bit spooked going up to the observatory floor.

Well when I sent my email to Illinois, I just put in it to an online friend that I had a weird dream and it was so real.

I was down in the depths of the ocean, it really was the deep, so dark, then the earth opened up, the water started to bubble, a tremendous light emitted, and then I saw a massive wave moving from right to left and covering the land, (end of dream)

I did have a volcanic dream a few months ago, don’t know what that’s about.

The thing is TV couldn’t have influenced me, I described it in my email as an under-water earthquake, because I had never heard the word tsunami, for all I know it could have been a Japanese cat.

I don’t know what part of the world it was in, I originally thought it was N,America, but four months later on Saint Stephens day, I remembered my dream.

It was weird too happening on Saint Stephens day ?

Once I had a dream in which I was talking to an angel. We were sitting on a stone wall over looking a plain with a small hut. There was a young shepherd boy there with sheep. The angel said to me “Behold, David counted his sheep and found they have multiplied”. It wasn’t until after, that I read in the bible of the census David took of his people. I feel the two are related somehow. This also happened after me and my family started going back to Church. Whenever I have a dream like that , it seems I am always left with a choice of how to look at it. Tim

Well I think we can get dreams that are a load of hocus pocus, we soon forget about them, then there are others that leave us disturbed or at least left wondering, and we never forget them.

So, how do you tell the difference?

During my dream , I had the strong feeling of being taught something and that I should pay close attention. It was like I was aware it was a dream and watching a lesson. Tim

A few nights ago I had this very strange and distrubing dream. It’s been on my mind and kind of bugging me. I dreamed that someone or something was drawing of me through my back a stream of this light. It was actually painful, it felt like my soul and whatever it was felt very evil! I can almost feel it when I think about it!

Strange how your brain works while you sleep. We collect all this data all day and it gets mixed up.
It’s not always just the data, anyway I don’t think it is. Has you or anyone close to you been around anything occult? Anyway, if it feels evil it may help to say the Michael the Archangel prayer, and the Our Father, of coarse!!!

I dreamt years ago that I was in my moms cousins home helping her. When her husband died a few years ago, I remembered that dream and repeatly asked her if I could help her in anyway. She eventually let me help her move and we got to be close and to know each other quite well in the process, she died a few months after the move and I’m so glad for the time we had together and credit God with giving me the dream that inspired me to help her.

I’m glad you had a chance to help out before her death.

During the time I came back to the Church and my confirmation, I was having a hard time with dreams and other things that had me consulting a Priest for discernment. One dream in particular really had me upset. It started out with a flash of a face. The face was clean shaven with blonde curly hair. Then it went to a scene of the sky on fire, with the Vatican in the background. It was bathed in a creamy white light. In the forground was a shield on a rocky hill. The shield was checkered in yellow and white. Then a black eagle flew overhead, then started to land in front of the shield. As it landed, it molded into the shield and became part of in, like a coat of arms. I was at first frightened by the elements being on fire with the Vatican being part of it, then my wife asked me if the Vatican was on fire. After reflecting on it, I realized it wasn’t but seemed protected. A Priest told me that the eagle can represent John. I guess he was talking about the apostle. This one at first scared me away from the Church until I consulted a Priest for discernment. Now it seems to relay the message of the Church’s protection. Tim

That’s simple 🙂 when the dream comes true, God communicated to Joseph, didn’t Cesar’s wife have a disturbing dream concerning Jesus, etc;

Matt: 27:19 And as he was sitting in the place of judgment, his wife sent to him, saying: Have thou nothing to do with that just man; for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him.

Joseph interpreted the two dreams of Pharao: he is made ruler over all Egypt.

And there seems to be dreams that God doesn’t approve of.

There surely has and your account is very chilling Stephen. I really believe there are times when our dreams are meant to send a message of some sort. It’s those ones that really stick in our heads and seem so real that make us think twice about it.

I didn’t want to say this Carrie :o but it didn’t seem like just data to me either. It was much too real. I know of no one involved in the occult, thank goodness for that! It happen the night before Ash Wednesday. Part of my lenten disapline is praying the rosary everynight. I find it very odd that I had that awful dream right before Ash Wednesday. Maybe it means something…maybe it doesn’t. I just don’t know.

thank you for the advice about Michael the Archangel, I am afraid to say I don’t know that prayer. I will look it up. 🙂

This is a wonderful story Carrie. Have you ever had dreams of people you haven’t seen in years and feel a need to call them when you dream of them? I had this happen a few times.

I have only had one dream that was actually disturbing. There is alot of fluff to it, but the end is all that matters. In the end, I remember I was lying down at night, and I felt a gun on the back of my head (yes, I actually ‘felt’ in a dream). The lady shot me, I died. Then there was nothing but blackness and I was thinking where is God?

Kind of disturbing when I actually think about it, but I try not to dwell on it too much. 👍

On the other hand, the best dream I had was that I was older. I was in the parish I currently attend, and I was the priest celebrating the eucharist. When I elevated the host, I saw our deceased pastor standing by one of the columns smiling.

THAT was a good dream.

Yes! I once had a dream an old friend was crying, turned out that her father had just died, I believe God does use our dream time sometimes to direct us to do something he wants done. The dream about helping my moms cousin was about 20 years before I actually helped her!!!

Gorey details warning

In the past two weeks I’ve had two extremely disturbing dreams, both about the bodies of dead babies. The first one had me as a spectator in a room with two huge butcher tables with a large fat man with no shirt, covered in blood, and with the dismembered bodies of children around him and on the floor, he was holding a cleaver. I woke up in a cold sweat.

The second dream had me driving through the streets of a bombed out looking neighborhood - homes half burned, drug dealers and people with guns hiding in the shadows, and all around me the bodies of dead children, again dismembered and bloody, and I could feel them under the tires of my vehicle as I tried to drive through.

The children are not infants, but perhaps less than a year old. My dreams are EXTREMELY vivid. Like going to a movie, full Technicolor, sound, and sometimes even smell. So when I had these dreams, to say they were disturbing is an vast understatement.

My DH thinks it is because I have been looking at some pro-life sites lately, and reading about some of the pro-life stuff here, and I think also because having a child of our own has been on my mind lately.

All I know is that I hope I don’t have one again - and yes, I pray rapid fire to Saint Michael when the dreams do come. It certainly isn’t any fun to have to endure them, and I don’t seem to wake up until I’ve seen enough to be truly terrified. Thank God it’s only happened twice.

Sorry to be so gruesome - there was no way to really talk about them without talking about them. 😦
