Anyone???

I like to use social media to evangelize myself and others but lately I feel like no one is on the other side and my time could be better spent interacting with those around me 🤷. I’m not anti-social media but I think a 40 day break (retreat) would be good for me.

I’ve thought about it, but sadly even the idea of going without Candy Crush seems beyond me. Which most likely means I should do it I suppose.😊

I will be giving up two websites that I go on everyday where I interact with others on those sites. 🙂

I’ve been considering giving up Facebook. But not sure…I would love to say chocolate as it’s addiction (not joking) but scared I’d be too weak and give in :😊

Pax Christi!

Nope.

Game apps and caffeine.

CAF helps build my faith and my prayer life.

God bless.

I thought about giving up FaceBook for Lent. Briefly.

FB is typically the preferred non-phone communication method most used by my nieces and my real-life friends. They all know my e-mail address, and they’re all skilled at texting (more skilled than me, that’s for sure!), but we all tend to PM each other on FB.

Fortunately (?), I have other vices I can sacrifice…

Yup, I think most of my family either calls or texts each other when needed. I guess I’ve been seeing the content get a little blah for a while now and the people who post I don’t regularly interact with. I don’t even know most of my neighbors! Time for a change.

I did a week long media fast last lent (all media) and it was nice. I also tried to implement a social media schedule to keep myself off of it. It was good and bad. It’s better when I’m so involved with life and don’t really care about the internet as much. This lent I’m trying to jump start that concept again.

I gotta admit I missed the social part and thought you talking about news media, which would also be good to give up for many. But yes, get off social media for at least a little while and go hug a tree. 😃

I will be giving up CAF and soda.

I already gave up Facebook permanently 2 years ago.

Nice. What were your reasons for leaving fb and how has it been since? I read somewhere that 10 min of in-person interaction is equivalent to 10 hours of online interaction.

Hi There! I’ve been giving facebook up each lent for the past four years, and deleted my account last fall in part bc of how nice it was during lent. Try it- you’ll like it!! I’ll definitely give up all social media this lent, and tv. Last year I also limited my time online to 1/2 hour per day. It made me very efficient at using the internet bc I would have a list of what I needed to do and then just did it and nothing else…

I don’t partake in twitter/facebook/etc. but do a lot of reading online (news/blogs/etc.). I’m giving that all up until after 6 pm each day and nothing at all on Sundays. I’ll only be online during the day if my work or household needs require it (ie. online banking). Same rules for tv.

I did something like this last year too, you would be surprised at how much time is spent online (at least in my world 😛 ).
