I’m just wondering what your impression of the Great Adventure Bible that Ascension Press has recently put out has been (if you’ve received a copy)? Likes and dislikes, stuff like that

Thanks

I’ve received it but haven’t started using it yet. I was hoping there would be extensive footnotes as I am used to the protestant-type Bibles. The font is excellent and I sure it is well suited for the Time Line Bible Study. I do like that the words of Jesus are in red letter.I will be using it for our Cavins’ study o Matthew. I think I was expecting for of Cavins’ insights in the form of foot notes .

I’m very partial to the good news translation, good job taking a peek. May the lord speak to you!

The GNT was the first Catholic Bible I ever owned, and I have to admit that it’s probably my least favorite translation. Any particular reason why you like it?

For starters it was given to me by a monk. Secondly, it was pretty doggone easy to read in comparison to what I’ve experienced in other versions. I think there may have been a few discarded books in there that were pretty good also.

I think its too early to say, it’s brand new and costs $60. Jeff Cavins just looks a bit too excited about selling these Bibles.

So…it implements the Great Adventure Bible Study.

An alternate is the new Old Testament commentary by Brant Pitre and another guy. Money doesn’t grow on trees and we’re always hyped “ya gotta get THIS Bible”
