Anyone Have Experienc with Sacra Pagina Commentary?

Anyone have experience with the Sacra Pagina commentary?

I’m told that they are quite orthodox and that they “pull no punches” with regards to Catholic doctrine. The author’s seem to be giants in terms of education, titles, and positions within the hierarchy of the Church.

I am quite impressed and inclined to try the one on Hebrews or 1, 2 and 3 John.

The sample pages look right up my alley, but they are expensive and so wouldn’t mind a gut check on how they read, quality of the hardcover books, or any other opinions.

Marco, in your experience from reading them, do you know what is meant by this description?

The goal of Sacra Pagina is to provide sound, critical analysis without any loss of sensitivity to religious meaning. This series is therefore catholic in two senses of the word: inclusive in its methods and perspectives, and shaped by the context of the Catholic tradition.

I tend to be wary of the word “inclusive” when it comes to religion.

Off-hand, I’m not aware of any gender “inclusive” language in the books, but I certainly have only looked up passages I needed to so far. I don’t know what else it could refer to unless it means popular or varied interpretations are represented?

Here’s a post I made about a potential controversy in the Gospel of John commentary. I didn’t have a significant problem with it though.
