is endorsed by the Catholic Church? I have a brother who saw it and said it might be… but I wasnt sure if any of you have seen this movie. If so, what did you think? It was aired on HBO last night!
I watched it. It was huge anti-Catholic propaganda film. They focus on a priest claiming that he doesn’t know any other priests that keep the vow. They show some wierd Christian cults whipping and crucifying each other “in order to stay celebate.” They show a former priest and nun who left the Church after an adulterous fling with each who then get married and start their own house church. The couple proceeds to make untrue statements about the Church and celebacy. They do not (as they claim) provide any evidence that celebacy can be linked to the abuse scandal.
To be fair, however, they do have a cardinal from the Vatican give the Church’s point of view on the scandal. It was also pretty interesting as it showed how some of the other cultures and religions in the world deal with celebacy. I’d recommend it though; while slanted, it was still pretty interesting. And it can give you something to debunk if that’s your thing.
I wouldn’t, although, in fairness I must admit that I didn’t watch the whole thing. I turned it off after the scene scene showing the Indian swami or yogi or guru, I forget what he was called.
***** EXTREME GRAPHIC DESCRIPTION ALERT *****
The movie showed a full frontal view of him naked as a jaybird, twisting his flaccid ***** around a bamboo stick, then pulling and twisting the stick every which way, finally pulling the bamboo between his legs, anchoring it against the backs of his thighs below his buttocks, with his ***** still wrapped around the bamboo, stretched down and backward tightly betewwn his legs and across his *********. Then he went into a crouch and jumped up and down for a while like this. I wouldn’t recommend that anyone watch this even for debunking purposes, but that’s not my thing.
