Been feeling hopeless and beyond lost lately.

Anyone know of a saint or prayer to help combat this waywardness?

Please read the book of Tobit! It’s not very long, and it really is wonderful.

Part of the story is that Tobit and Sarah both felt so hopeless that they prayed for death. But our loving God answered their prayers with “life!”

Also, Lamentations 3:21-24 has blessed me more times than I can count when I was feeling hopeless.

Hang in there - I will pray for you :grouphug:

St. Jude, patron of hopeless and desperate causes
St. Rita, patron of impossible situations
St. Philomena, patron of desperate causes and having special power with God

Ask Mary, “How did you go 12 years, three meals a day, until you finally heard Jesus say, ‘How is it you did not know I must be in my Father’s house?’, and then, Mary, how did you and Jesus go another 18 years, three meals a day, Jesus building hundreds of chairs and tables, seeing people’s condition, until finally one day Jesus is baptized, anointed as King, and then you tell him there is no wine left?”

How did she go so long with no confirmation of anything, but only knowing the One she believed in?

But she went through all those years, all those meals, Jesus building all those chairs, and they both knew, “I am going to do all the things I do virtuously, until the day appointed”.

How about you, doing all the things you do virtuously (make use of the Virtues given you in your Baptism and Confirmation)? Then you will be ready at the time God chooses for doing what He will do with you. That is the way I am facing it; how about you, too?

I pray to Elijah, spiritual father of the Carmelites. After his victory over the prophets of Baal he feared Jezebel’s revenge and fled. He sat under a tree and wished for death. I’d say that was feeling pretty hopeless. (1 Kings 19:1-4)
