I found the Daughters of St. Paul but could anyone suggest some others for me to check out? I’m interested in communites where I’d be able wear a habit.

The strongest orders for women combining habit and art are probably cloistered orders, such as Regina Laudis, OSB in Connecticut. There are non-cloistered orders with a strong tradition of sisters producing serious art–but they are non-habited, such as the OSB’s of St. Benedict in St. Joseph, Minnesota, who teach at the College of St. B, the ‘sister’ college to St. John’s University. This groups even has a museum of their sisters’ art, and a gift shop of the same!

Iconography has always been a ministry of women’s monasteries in Eastern Churches, both Orthodox and Catholic.

Contact Holy Theophany Monastery (Romanian Catholic, though all the sisters are American) in Olympia Washington.
