I have been trying to find a Triptych icon of Our Lord’s crucifixion but all I can find are the icons with only one panel. If anyone knows of a site that sells Triptych of Our Lord’s crucifixion I would really appreciate it.

I need an icon that is compact and that I can fold and put away. I am in a situation where I live with my cousin and her family. They are bible only Christians and are not comfortable with any images of Our Lord or the Saints in their home. I had images out when I first moved in with my cousin but she told me she doesn’t want them out or to be seen by her impressionable young granddaughter. Its her house… so I have to follow her rules.

I need an icon that I can take out for prayer and then put away. If anyone can help me with this I would greatly appreciate it.

God bless

I don’t recall having seen a triptych of the Crucifixion painted in the style of most Byzantine/Greek/Russian icons–but that doesn’t mean they’re not available somewhere.

You could try these folks–they’ve helped me in the past and are very friendly. If they don’t have something they might be able to get it, but since it’s all imported it could take a while.

Worth a phone call, though, IMHO!

Good luck!

EDIT: If it doesn’t have to be of the Crucifixion, there are plenty of other small triptychs and diptychs available that would eminently suit your purpose.

My thanks to all of you for your suggestions and links. I have visited all of them and could not find the Triptych of Our Lord’s crucifixion that I liked. Oh well, I guess I have to keep on searching… through the grace of God I will find it.

Thanks again and God bless 🙂

You could always trying praying for the intercession of St. Anthony of Padua and St. Phanourios of Rhodes (orthodoxwiki.org/Phanourios). 😉

Print out your favorite Crucifixion image from Google images on photo paper (Walgreens is cheap if you don’t have a photo printer) and place it in a bi-fold two panel frame available most anywhere. You can put a second picture/print in the other side, or a favorite prayer printed in a nice font on cardstock.
When I can’t find something, I just make it myself.
Technology is great that way.
good luck

Wow. 😦
This is distressing news…my old parish bought several of their large icons with a cash donation in memory of someone.
I know many priests who have their stuff in their offices or various parish facility rooms…

Too bad. I always wondered about the “modern” icons…

The iconographer in Taos New Mexico is good, as is the one at Ballintubber Abbey in Ireland. I’ll have to see if either has a crucifixion one…

Thanks for the links.

Unless I’m mistaken, there are already several threads here about Monastery Icons. They may well be syncretists, or Hindu, or whatever, but…some of what they sell is not produced by them, but imported from Russia, amongst other places. Some are very beautiful items, too.

While I don’t purchase from them (any more), the few things I have from them have been either blessed on an altar or during a house blessing, so I have no worries about any negative influence. My only regret is having supported them financially with my previous purchases.

But…none of this helps the OP in his search for the triptych ;).

One of the Roman rite deacons of the Diocese of of Juneau, Alaska, is a talented iconograher, as well, and does take commissions.

Rev Fr Chris Zugger knows an iconographer priest in Europe who does custom orders, as well.

Younalso might check with the OCA Diocese of Sitka &Alaska, as they have a few, too.

Actually, I am looking for something more compact and that I can fold and easily put away. But the examples you are showing me in the links certainly are beautiful and if I could have them I would but in my current living situation my cousin does not want Catholic icons or any images displayed anywhere in her home and I have to respect that.

Thanks for showing me them though, I can only dream to have one of them.

God bless

Thanks for all of your responses. I have a tendency to forget my own threads lol and if I don’t subscribe to them to keep track I forget about them totally. lol That what happens when you get older, the memory is one of the first things to go.

God bless all of you

Archangelsbook.com has several triptychs, of the resurrection or nativity. The diptychs represent simply Mary with infant Jesus and adult Jesus. Eastern Orthodox churches usually have a bookstore where they more than likely will carry these travel size diptychs and triptychs.
