Anyone know which bible translation Dr. Scott Hahn recommends over all others?

I heard one of Dr. Scott Hahn’s Talks on the radio and I didn’t catch which translation of the bible he recommended above the others? Thanks.

That would be my guess. You know, I’ve purchased those commentaries one volume at a time and I’m hoping that there’ll be a single bound complete New Testament soon. I would highly recommend that series to all Catholics…teachccd
 
Has anyone ever asked Dr. Scott Hahn why he thinks that the translation choices of the RSV-CE are superior to the translation choices of the Nova Vulgata or the Confraternity bible.

I’d like to see him write a book about that!

We said that the RSV-CE was the bible that he is writing his commentary on. No one here nor Dr. Hahn has admitted to a “superior” translation…teachccd
 
What would he say if someone specifically asked him my question? Would he answer it?
 
Maybe he would–do you find it odd that no one has ever asked him before? I do.
 
I chalk that up to a vast conspiracy in the liberal base camp among Catholics…😉
 
That guy must love his local access cable show starring himself.

Back to reality…I saw Scott Hahn yesterday at the Catholic Family Conference in Anaheim, California. While I did not speak with him for this answer, I did take note that he did use the RSV Catholic Edition. One of his undergraduates was also using that translation for his talks. It is a good translation and there are other Catholic translations that are favorable as well…teachccd

Yes he would. I’ve spoken with Dr. Hahn in the past and he is VERY receptive to our inquiries and he is also most gracious. His talk yesterday was superb and while he is an experienced apologist he also spends much of his time speaking with anyone who calls on him. I’ve witnessed (a couple of years past) a line of people thanking Dr. Hahn, for it was because of his work that they entered the Catholic Church. It was very moving for me to see how humble he is in recognizing how God works through him.

I can’t imagine how his choice in bible translation could ever diminish his role in our Church…God Bless…teachccd 🙂

I have taken heard him speak and teach in several conferences and classes, someone always asks that question and he recommends the RSV-CE because it is the one used in English translations of Vatican documents and also the most “ecumenical” and therefore most useful in apologetics with non-Catholic Christians
