I am with my family in Lexington Kentucky for a while and am wanting to go to confession for Divine Mercy Sunday. The thing is that I do struggle with confession and have had ( though I understand the priests when they have done so. They are human, have had bad days, and my sins were awful) not great experiences with confession in the past. I also have OCD and social anxiety which only makes things a bit more difficult. Anyone on here know a priest from around the area who I can feel less afraid of going to confess to? I don’t mind driving farher out of Lexington if I have to.

I’m not in that area so I’m afraid I don’t know, but I’ll pray that you find the best confessor for you. Someone kind, wise, and closely guided by the Holy Spirit.

If you don’t mind driving an hour north I recommend my parish priest in Walton KY.

I don’t know any specific priests as I always go behind the screen but I’ve been shown great mercy and compassion by the priests of the Lexington diocese whenever I go to confession there. Especially when there is a Men’s conference in town and all the priests are assisting.

I recommend the Cathedral where there is the option of either screen or in person. Due to the scandals of the past, some parishes don’t have the option of the screen and have to have confession in the open (far enough away from audible conversation of course). Check the diocese Web page for times, and yes, I know it can be hard to navigate with their updates (sorry).

Also, as stated above, Covington diocese has some great priests as well. St. Edward Cynthiana being the closest with a very traditional young priest. He’s very serious though. Not sure how you’ll take that.

My friend in Lexington recommends Fr. Alan Carter, who is currently the vocations director for the diocese of Lexington. You can search and easily find his contact information. She also recommends Fr. Steve Roberts at the Holy Spirit Parish Newman Center.

Thank you! I have actually been there for mass once so I will hopefully be able to make an appointment soon.
