Anyone taking a LONG vacation from work for Christmas break?

I am at work today but I have completed all my projects. After Friday, I’ll come back on the 3rd. 🙂
 
I home teach for the county as well as teach in a homeschool co-op. County schools go back Jan 2nd, so I guess I’m on vacation.

Since I’m so part time, it doesn’t seem like a vacation.

You are lucky. Our parish office is open. Most of the staff is off on Monday except for the maintenance workers and myself. We will spend most of the morning decorating the church and then I will hang around for the early evening masses, go home for dinner and come back for midnight. I do have off Christmas day…the only Holy Day I am off, I’ll be back at work Wednesday but I am off the first week of January…well sort of since I will be going to a litugical conference.

😃 LOL I know what u mean. I already warned my son to knock of the burping and other bodily silly noises he is making in his sister’s face…lol I said I’m not going to listen to this for the next 12days!:o
 
I’m in kind of in a transition were I’m changing from one company to another and I managed to have about three weeks off in between. I’ve been off for a week and I have two more weeks before I start my new job which I am very excited about. This christmas will be my first christmas with my wife. We have been married almost 8 months. Jan. 2-8 we are going to FOCUS retreat in Texas. It is suppose to be an amazing weekend filled with awsome speakers, masses, adorations, and a concert by Third Day. The main actor from the movie "Bella " is going to be there as well. It’s in a five star hotel too! Man God has blessed my wife and I so much. Thank you for the thread.

God bless you Joan for the fine work you do for your parish. I really guess I forget that someone needs to be there in addition to the clergy, to make sure everything runs smoothly…decorations are put up…wow. That is a big job, and I for one, thank you for making your parish a special time for its parishioners. God bless you and have a merry Christmas!

I don’t usually leave lab until after 6pm, but I was out of there by 5 this afternoon. I don’t go back until Jan. 2nd. 👍
 
I was off today and am off until Jan 2 as well. YAY! I needed it as this month was especially hectic and basically nonstop busy! Have a very merry Christmas, all!
 
Well, I’ve got to work the 26th and the 27th, to get my students’ exam marks in. Then if I get them in by 5pm on the 27th, I can have time off until January 14th :extrahappy:

I would love to run away to a place with a warm climate for two weeks, but I can’t. I don’t have the money. Luckily, my younger brother is coming to Korea to visit me instead. I’m getting excited planning all the fun things we can do together.:dancing: :extrahappy: :bounce:

Many years ago, when I worked for other state agencies, I always was able to take off the week between Christmas and New Years. It has not been permitted in the state agency I’ve worked at for the last 18 years.

After Tuesday evening’s horror ride home, I was so stressed out from almost getting hit umpteen times, I got a migraine and called in sick. I’ve not left the house since and won’t go back to work until Wednesday - hardly a vacation but it’s gotten really bad traffic wise around here - not only do we have the Texans going east, we still have large numbers of my fellow New Orleanians here (without benefit of multiple back routes).

Annie, I envy you (in a positive way, of course :D) I would love to head over to our local Benedictine abbey for a retreat. I have over two years of sick leave on the books and over nine months of vacation time which I have never been able to take.

You young folks who are between semesters…enjoy it while you can. Thirty + years down the road and it will be but a fond memory.
