I have presented “Our Father’s Plan” hosted by Scott Hahn and Jeff Cavins available in VHS or DVD. It involves quite a bit of reading and is based on the historical books of the Bible. I highly recommend it.
You mean Great Bible Adventure?
I am dropping allot of subtle hints (and not so subtle ones
) about getting All of Jeff Cavins bible study programs for Christmas. )We are currently doing the Great Adventure in our parish. We just started with the lesson on Genesis 1-3 last week.
I have been attending Jeff’s bible studies, in person, for the past seven years. I would suggest you contact Jeff through his website, jeffcavins.com. He will connect you with his administrative assistant, who can guide you through the process of setting up a study in your parish.Thanks for all the replies. On Monday, I talked to the priest and it’s very likely that we will be using this GBA for a bible study session. But it’s quite expensive.Hopefully, the PPC will approve it.
Btw, how the session should be carried out?
Personally, I find the Ignatius Catholic Study Bible to be thin in content. I have the 4 Gospels. Not planning on buying any others.
OK… I am officially jealous!!! That would be so awesome to be there in person! We use the cd’s instead of the dvd’s… and even though we get the meat and potatoes… you can tell we miss a little of the group dynamic that we would see on the dvd’s.
It is truely awesome. We are studying Exodus this fall and 1 Corinthians in the spring.
I was just telling my bosses wife about these ones to come… we are on Act at our parish and we start revelations in March.
What we have and are doing in our Parish: we have 2 couples be facilitators (my wife and I are one of the couples), we start with a prayer (the facilitators take turns leading the prayer) then we split into two groups, men and women for the discussion portion - we felt that having the groups separated by gender would help some of the people feel more comfortable sharing their thoughts and insights, smaller intimidation factor. We gather together to watch the DVD portion, and usually have a snack also. But I don’t think that there is really a wrong or right way to do it - just what works for the group that is there for the study.
