DH (who is not Catholic) said he thought it was actually a pretty positive portrayal of a priest since he wasn’t shown as an incompetent pervert. However, I get so sick of the media consistently portraying priests as incapable of sticking to their vows. I knew from the moment the episode started that the priest was going to involved with a nun or have a girlfriend or be the murderer or something similiar. Did anyone else see the episode?

Yes, I saw it. It’s natural for network programming to usually show the Catholic Church in a negative light. While disheartening, it shouldn’t be surprising.

Was that the rerun one on SPIKE tv?
It was a priest who killed a very violent junkie who turned out to be his natural son?
I’d seen that one before.
I felt very sorry for that priest (character).

No, it was a rerun on CBS of one run there earlier this year. See summary

I thought it did well at portraying the priest as one with human failings, who probably should not have become a priest, but was trying hard to do the right thing. For example, he knew he couldn’t remain celebate so was leaving the priesthood, not remaining in and disgracing it. He had strong feelings against the murderer, but gave him absolution as his priesthood required.

I also liked it when Catherine lit a candle and said a prayer for Sam.

I haven’t watched CSI (Las Vegas) since the Catherine Willows character stripped down in front of an inmate. Crooks, I can understand, they’re crooks… but when the main characters start doing it…
