Crucifix at the door and in most rooms and a little altar…

My Lutheran mother is appalled at such “magical” stuff. It isn’t of course, but simply a way to appeal to this coarse fleshy stuff as a memorial to remember that the World is not the be all and end all.

The bravest thing I have done is say Grace with my companions in a resturant…it was a beautiful profession of faith…

After reading this here on Friday - I mentioned it to my Son who told me that the Bishop of Our Church has a few Agnus Dei’s Since my wife and I had a meeting with him after Mass yesterday on another matter - at its conclusion I mentioned it to him and he went into the rectory and brought out two of them. He said one was Blessed by Pope Pius the XII and the smaller one was blessed by Pope Leo the XIII. I actually held them in my hand yesterday. He told me that there is another one they keep at the convent and that last spring a Tornado destroyed their barn - a tree - their Chicken house and a large windmill on both sides of the convent but it didnt touch the convent itself. Thanks to Michael for making me aware of this awesome sacramental. Until Friday I was unaware of their existance , believe it or not.

Wow…so much stuff has been chucked out, relics and stuff…I saw church vestments at a winery (owned at one time by a religious order)…I was offended
 
**BTW, what is the protocol that you use to get Holy Water for the home? **

I just take a bottle reserved for the purpose and dispense into it from the big container at the church entrance…most folk use it so it needs to be replenished regularly.
 
I wear a brown scapular, miraculous medal, St. Benedict’s medal, St. Dymphna medal, St. Michael the Archangel medal, and some other medals as well. 🙂

I shouldn’t laugh but what a way to go…my big pectoral crucifix oftens ends up poking me in the armpit…but I sure dont care.
 
Wear a Scapular Medal and have a Miraculous Medal on the chain with it.

Carry Rosaries and Holy Water with me.

Have Green Scapulars in back of pictures of my children and grandchildren.

Have Chalk for door lintels.

Also have St. Benedict Medal above my front door.

Have Holy water font at front door.

Have crucifixes in all rooms (except bathrooms and laundry room)

Keep blessed salt in kitchen.

Have statues of Our Lord and Our Lady as well as one of the Infant of Prague.

Have a couple icons of Our Lady too.

Usually have the blessed palm with the main crucifix (may keep Rosaries there with others)

Have blessed candles on “display”.

Have some “blessed Lily”.

Also have three relics as well.

I don’t consider them “magical”. They are powerful “reminders” and more.

A painting of Our Lady of Grace
A painting of St. Michael the Archangel
Three decorative plates: one of the Infant Jesus and Mary, one of Jesus teaching, and one with a Crucifix
Two Palms from Palm Sunday
A Rosary
Holy Water
and Myrrh scented incense
 
I’m becoming fond of the Pardon Crucifix and wear one around my neck. I just learned about it recently and the fact that the great traditionalist Pope Saint Pius X instituted it gives it a sort of traditionalist air to me 🙂

I also have a Saint Benedict medallion on my rosary and I own a Miraculous Medal.

I was given a St Benedict medal on a quite large crucifix plus a blessed miraculous medal by my two sponsors when I converted and became a (traditional) Catholic. I’ve worn them ever since, together with a brown scapular. They certainly do become tangled and the brown scapular or one of the medals often pop out either at the front of my shirt or at my neck - particularlaly in the summer. Probably partly because I’m making up for lost time of not having been Catholic, but I like the fact that it tells anyone who sees them that I’m a Catholic and I get not only curious stares but sometimes questions that I’m happy to answer. Then for me personally they are a very potent reminder all the time or the preciousness of my Catholic faith and indeed serve as a timely reminder on occasions of near sin.

I wear a Brown Scapular,a St. Benedict Crucifix [began to wear it the day our Holy Father Benedict XVI was elected], and a St. Joan of Arc medal.

I had worn a Miraculous Medal, a Fatima ‘relic medal’ and a St. Bernadette medal *, but the chains keep breaking. Once I get a new chain I’ll probably wear them again.

LOL, YankeeRC! I wear my Scapular to bed, and it always rides up. By the time I wake up, I have to pull it back into place. During the day, I use safety pins to fasten the cords to my bra straps. But when the bra straps slide over my shoulders, sometimes the Scapular rides up and shows. Oh, well…one of the ‘hazards’ of being a woman! 😊 🤷*
 
I have some of those old Sacred Heart badges with the Gospel of St. John folded inside them, a little piece of palm and a tiny Agnus Dei wrapped in foil. I think nuns made them. I love the blessings in the Roman Ritual such as for cars, herbs, bread, candles, medicine, etc.

And, regarding Agnus Dei, you can still buy them but unfortunately the place you can buy them from are schismatic, and sedevacantists.

They have all been blessed:)
I wear them all on one chain and I have only ever removed them once and that was for an x ray of my chest.

I agree. It’s what makes the Catholic Faith so special. Protestants seem all too content to leave their religion in church; Catholics make a lifestyle out of it.

I heard a wonderful sermon by our deacon on the Easter Vigil about how traditionally-minded Catholics always had a proliferation of religious objects and such in their homes but how today it’s sadly less common in many places. The moral was not to leave our faith in church. Sacramentals are an ideal way of living that out 🙂
