I hear you, but please notice that this was a baptism of repentance, not sacramental baptism that removes original sin, for Jesus had not instituted the sacraments at that time. The disciples administered the same baptism as John the Baptist, but it was not done in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Remember, the Holy Spirit had not been given, and Jesus did not instruct them to baptize in this manner until after His resurrection.

By “home” I meant the Catholic Church and reception of the sacraments. . . NOT merely making a spiritual commitment of sorts to Jesus apart from His Church.

Somehow, I am getting the feeling that you are not truly hearing me, so I wish you well, Jeanne.
*merely *making a spiritual commitment of sorts
  • Yer killin’ me over here, Sirach. 😃
I hear you…but am not willing to derail the thread to discuss any perceptions you’ve formed of my spiritual status. 😉 I just wanna study the Bible, and CAF is the most amazingly thought-provoking study group I’ve ever been part of. However, thanks for your concern!

There are many people who are against Jesus. Some are members of our own church probably even some religious. Its a big organism and organization and easy to infiltrate.

The fact of Baptism may make someone a Catholic but it doesn’t make us WITH Jesus. That comes from the proper use of our reason, free will and based on the choices we make Divine Grace.

I am sure the apostles cast out demon unfortunately we don’t cast out enough these days as the human situation attests to.

One lie that I would like to erase is the one that God does not condemn the lost to Hell. He is our judge if we are convicted God sentences us to whatever we deserve. That is Justice not cruelty. God is infinitely Just.

The angels tremble in His presence. He is a simple supreme being who allows not stain of sin near Him.

We are convicted by the choices we made with our own free will but we are tried by God.

The other almost lie is that Jesus came to lead us to God. Holy Mackeral, JESUS IS GOD. We do not need to look farther. In Heaven Jesus will be our chief experience of God and all that is revealed to US concerning the invisible Holy Trinity will come to us through Him. HE IS GOD, FOREVER. It was a huge act of infinite humility on God’s part just to become human, because he did it like all of us, permanently. God is attached to the Body of Christ in the same way that our soul is attached to our bodies. Forever we will be who we were created whether in Heaven or in Hell. God will always be Jesus.

When Jesus spoke every word was from God because He is and was only God in His thoughts, words and deeds. God ate, bathed and went to the wash-room. Jesus’ humanity is the physical conduit to God who is entirely present within Him in exactly the same way your soul is in you. The totality of God is present inside Christ and Therefore the entire Trinity is present inside Christ.

=Bodhi303;11802483]Hi CAF! My very first thread, hope this goes well.
I wanted to know what Jesus meant exactly when he said this. If you are not with me, you are against me
Was there some audience he was addressing or some context that needs to be understood before taking this statement as is. There usually is. I got a book by Fr. Baron for Christmas and he only skirts the issue once, he doesn’t really go into too much detail.
My concern is that it really bothered me when these words left the mouth of Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars Episode III as he was turning into Darth Vader. And Obi Wan Kenobi responds “Only a Sith deals in absolutes”….
I know, I know professional geek in your midst 🤓
You can stop laughing at any time………………….:
Still laughing I see :o…………………….
I’ll wait ((((crosses arms)))…
Ahem!! You still have some tears in your eyes…
Truthfully, I’m laughing at me too…lol:D
I know it’s just a movie but someone paraphrasing Jesus’ words to illustrate a character’s complete transformation into pure evil didn’t sit well with me. And honestly I agree with Obi Wan…why the absolutes? So, I’m hoping George Lucas is misinterpreting this verse.
Any insights into this scripture verse would be helpful, Thanks in advance.
Welcome to CAF!

I do hope you’ll accept a smile [large will do] in lieu of the laugh?🙂

The essential Lesson here revolves around the fact that “truth” is and must be singular per defined issue. Therefore anyone who neither seeks nor possesses God’s singular truths
EPH 4:4-8 for example; is opposed to what God Ordains and Intends.👍

Pope Benedict explains it this way:

"There can’t be YOU"RE truth AND MY truth or there would be NO truth:D

Jesus is God and as God is incapable of deceit and needs no interpretation other then language translation. He means that their are those human beings who like demons chose to be against God, against salvation, against the Church against holiness. These people are everywhere inside and outside all churches and religions as well as within the atheist community. The fact that we have free will means that individual people can chose anything no matter how holy no matter how evil.

It also means that no one is allowed to sit on the fence. You must commit yourself to one side or the other. The attempt to not chose is choice and defaults to the devil. People must chose who Jesus Christ is and why He was crucified. He is either God or as evil as they come.

If He was only a prophet and claimed to be God He would be evil and deserve to be crucified and all Christianity a sham. If He is truly the messiah, then He is truly God and the Catholic Church is our only means of salvation.

You as an individual like all men must answer this question when you chose how to accept the history of Jesus. If you don’t try you are sinful and culpable, if you chose wrongly you will suffer the loss of your soul. So the real question that is asked here was first asked to the apostles. Who do you say that Jesus is?

How did George Bush use Star Wars justify the Iraq war-in universe however the Sith and the Jedi are eternally opposed the Sith believe in power for the sake of power and self for the sake of self. The Jed believe in selfless ness self denial, justice etc… Anyway regarding doctrine Jesus essentially says if you are not with me you are against me hence anti-Christ. That is an absolute there is no middle ground or third way it’s that simple

“Star Wars fan”. Seen all movies, and read the expanded universe novels!

Anyone who does not believe that Jesus Christ is the redeemer and that the only way to God is through Him, is anti Christ.

As for the movie? Never saw it, what truth can come from Hollywood?
Before you have fiction you must have non-fiction, one wouldn’t exist without the other. There is truth in fiction, you have to discern it
