Rather than Transferring to Sunday?
Thanks for the info!In the Ordinary Form, it is much like the Epiphany. In countries where Corpus Christi is not a holy day of obligation, it is automatically transferred to Sunday. That is not optional.
In the Extraordinary Form, the feast is on Thursday. However, the “external solemnity” may be transferred to Sunday. In practice, this means that the earlier Mass must be of the Sunday, but the High Mass and procession may from the feast of Corpus Christi. That was a permitted practice in days of old.
Similar to what will happen in Most Holy Redeemer Parish here. Since the celebrate both forms, they will celebrate the EF on Thu. and extended Solemnity with procession on Sunday. In the Ordinary Form, it is much like the Epiphany. When I went to look up Corpus Christi processions in the area (there is a Carmelite convent and Benedictine monastery both fairly close by) my autotext thought I was trying to look up prostitutes in Corpus Christi! Here’s a useful hint: most monasteries will celebrate on Thursday, even in the OF. Monks and nuns aren’t hindered by the secular realities of the workplace.
