Washington, DC – White House press secretary Robert Gibbs may want to add a Friday news story from the Associated Press to his to-do list today. The article disabuses Gibbs on claims he made in recent weeks saying the Hyde amendment prevent taxpayer-funding of abortion in the health care bills.

That’s why Catholic bishops have been calling for simple straightforward language within any healthcare bill to prohibit abortion funding–a Hyde amendment for healthcare. The house leadership treats this as an impossible request.

Edit–sorry, I forgot this is the Social Justice forum. The discussion belongs on the Politics forum.

A few days ago, I was watching something on NBC, In the video, Obama was saying that he was objecting to tax payer funded bonuses for excutive.

I started thinking about the logical disconnect there.

In the video, Obama was pretty much saying that bonuses paid from a general fund that has both coporate revue and tax payer funds amounted to tax payer funded bonuses.

But Gibbs has been claiming that an insurance fund that included both end user premiums and taxpayer dollars somehow does NOT equal taxpayer funded abortions.

I wish they would figure out which one is true.
