Apocalypse Soon

Just got this from another blog. There is a theory flying around like this:
Bush still manages to get enough popular support from so-called “evangelical” votes to continue Iraq war and invade Iran. These “evangelicals” believe that the second coming will be precipitated by a final war in Iran and Iraq when US invades Iran and Iran responds with nuclear warheads towards Israel and the rest of the “infidels”. All these are based on the belief that this is what Apocalypse predicts in the Bible. My concern is: is it true and what right should some group have to “precipitate” such event?

Anyone can please suggest how can we deconstruct this theory and what should be the Catholic stand on this?

It may or may not be. Ours is not to know. The possibility is conceivable. Even my dad was saying a couple weeks ago that these Islamic radicals seem hell bent on bringing about the apocalypse.

Goof if your father had been around in the time of Hitler, WWI or Napoleon, I’m sure he would have thought the same about them.

The point is Jesus said ‘no man knows the day or the hour’. Which means just that. Any sort of speculation as to dates and times makes a mockery of his words.

Why should I worry about the Apocalypse when I could after all be meeting God myself face-to-face in five minutes for all I know?
