I’m interested in books that describe the influence that Apocryphal Jewish writings, and Apocryphal Christian writings had on Jesus, and on the writers of the new testament (for example, the Testament of the 12 Patriachs).
I’m also interested in books that describe how Gnostic groups and writings influenced the formation of the early church and various New Testament texts (for example, Valentinian who almost became bishop of Rome, or Ebionite groups as stemming from Jewish Christian factions that rejected Pauline writings, and may stem from the group of Judaizers mentioned in Paul, or Marcion who edited the Bible to purge out all references to Old Testmant Literature because he believe the God of the Old Testament was the evil demiurge, etc…).
Any suggestions?
