There’s a very strong movement in Israel by Jews who have converted to Christianity, and they have excellent apologetics videos on how to answer he objections that Jews may have to Jesus. Very interesting and well made:

Ha! yes! Scripture describes how 3,000 Jews including priests and pharisees converted in 1 day! After the Resurrection.

I wonder if they allow visitors/pilgrims? I am possibly going to either The Holy Land or Rome/ Assisi

The fact that they become baptized and have faith in Jesus Christ makes them members members of the Body of Christ which is the Church. While Catholics are given the full deposit of faith and all the sacraments, more is expected of Catholics…

Yes, the Holy land allows pilgrims…in the millions every year. Though I have never been. Rome is the Eternal City! I’ve been there a number of times.

In Rome you are free to go and explore the city. Though I have heard that the Holy Land is much more restricted. I have heard that Jewish converts to Christianity are often ostracized and if they try to evangelize they often face death threats. For example:

My question was about numbers. How many Hebrew-speaking Catholics are there in Israel? I believe the number is quite small. And, of course, not all of them are converts from Judaism. The number presumably includes foreign workers resident in Israel, originally from the Philippines and other Catholic countries.

Probably almost non existent because I think that Israel has laws against any non-Jews to become citizens of Israel

There’s a lot of things to unravel for a Jew to even see partway… but the best equipped are other Jewish believers. They know the Talmud (and all the other trappings that Jews value besides the scriptures). They speak the language better, so to speak. I mean, with Orthodox and conservatives. It’s a bit different with secular Jews.

People may not want to hear this, but it’s hard to even agree on what actually IS scripture for a Jew. There’s a difference between Septuagint readings (now vindicated by the Dead Sea Scrolls) and things in the Masoretic text…which conveniently mess around with Messianic passages (as if that was random).

I was talking about the group from the link that @BartholomewB was giving. I know The Holy Land welcomes pilgrims and converts.

The Israeli Jewish converts who evangelize face death threats and persecution by the rabbis. Here is a video the two Israeli apologists posted showing one of the many threats they get from the rabbis, and how they respond…

No, there are plenty of non-Jews who have Israeli citizenship, and there are plenty more who live there on permanent visas, including migrant workers from Catholic countries. If they choose to attend Mass celebrated in Hebrew rather than in Arabic or English or some other language, then they will be included in the number of Hebrew-speaking Catholics.

Meh. They would be breaking The 10 Commandments if they actually committed murder. Depending on the sect, those who convert may get ostracized but as for outright killing…highly doubtful!

Good to hear. Maybe the numbers are higher then. I heard that it is quite difficult to become a citizen if you are not Jewish. Maybe I’m wrong.
