I cant see this as any good for a battle against Orthodox. They will laugh at this. Why not put more anti-Orthodox stuff on it?? 6 stars out of 10 for me.

In my opinion though we need more stuff on atheism. We need to deal with atheism because it is the biggest treat to Christianity in my opinion, above Islam (you hear many testimonies of former Christians who converted to atheism, but we dont get many converts to islam). Atheists (and also muslims) are gonna laugh at this resource, since it looks like its totally aimed against other Christians.

I would give this resource a 9/10 if it totally demolished the main atheist arguments.

I see what your saying, but this is really directed at as a defense against non-catholic Christians…

that’s why its called biblical evidence for Catholics - it has to do directly with Catholic doctrines being biblical.

its not meant do deal with Atheism or Islam , This is to better equip any Catholic who may have a hard time understanding Catholic doctrine being biblical and help point them in the right direction. Especially since Catholics have a stereotype of not reading or knowing the bible.

Bonocorium did bring up a good point though:

Are there any reference guides such as this one to deal with atheist arguments?

BTW, I have a copy of this reference sheet and I find it a wonderful tool, not so much in discussions with non-Catholic Christians, but as a study guide for ME.👍

I am sure there are reference guides but dealing with Atheism and Islam you are hardly slamming bible versus at eachother

Atheism you have to show sufficient evidence for a creator and there are many many arguments to know - William Lane Craig knows a lot (google him) if you do not know who he is.

Islam you have to learn the Koran and point out the fallacies - if you see how Islam came to fruition and how Christianity did its amazing the differences!

Here in the deep south, the Baptists would eat you alive if you pulled that paper out during a discussion.

Don’t get me wrong. It is a great resource.

But if you throw a verse out there, someone else is going to say, “That isn’t what it means” and proceed to explain to you what they think it really means. If they can back it up with arguments that seem to make sense and you have no reply other than to point at the verse, then you have acomplished nothing.

I guess my point is that a sheet like that is not a substitute for knowing your faith.

Excellent point – especially since I was thinking about posting something similar. 😉

Catholic apologists need to know the real Catholic doctrines especially in our age of science and technology.

Another must is an understanding of the protocol, i.e., how the visible Catholic Church operates on earth. Declaring a doctrine as part of the Catholic Deposit of Faith is a serious procedure of studying Divine Revelation. Note that not every Scripture verse is a Catholic doctrine

On the personal side, an apologist has to have complete confidence in the on-going presence of the promised Advocate when it comes to the long history involved with some of the doctrines flowing from Scripture. (Sources: Chapter 14, Gospel of John and Catechism of the Catholic Church, Second Edition, paragraphs 65-67)

I referenced the whole chapter 14 of the Gospel of John and the whole Catechism section on Christ Jesus – “Mediator and Fullness of All Revelation” even though CCC 66 is the key answer regarding the history of Divine Revelation in the Catholic Church. This is an example of another necessary Scripture tool for apologists. Not only does one need the prime time sound-bites Scripture verses, but one needs to know their context, front and back. It is important to know the audience when Jesus Christ and St. Paul are teaching as well as the audience of favorite teachers/authors in Scripture.

I appreciate a previous suggestion – using the cheat sheet for meditation. That is a great idea.👍
