Hi,

I have an Uncle that is Seventh-Day Adventist, and since I converted to Catholicism a few years back I am the person he is most worried about and active in evanglizing.
Some of the things that he brings up, I am not sure what to say, and the few articles that I have found don’t say a whole lot (they might have 2 or 3 verses and some commentary) which don’t do much as far a convincing me or him of much.
Does anyone know of books on Seventh-Day Adventist Doctrine from a Catholic perspective?

I cannot say that I am aware of any Seventh Day Adventist books. There are articles on this site which may be useful. However, the key may not be in attacking yet, but defending. You could find qualms that this person has with Catholicism and learn to answer those. As you grow familiar with the topic you may be able to expand into refuting the beliefs of the SDAs. But I do recall the articles here being of interest.

I hope this helps you,

Pax

catholic.com archives have a number of articles refuting 7DA beliefs. my sister also converted because she is married to one and i usually would engage her on one poiint at a time like the sabbath, w/c is their biggest “thing.” probably ask your uncle w/c point he wants to discuss first and you could bring it to the forum.
God bless.

I think the most important thing is for Catholics to be confident in their faith. It’s not about what other believe, but about what we believe. I’d offer that what’s important is not so much what Seventh-Day Adventiststs believe/teach doctrinally, but what Catholics do. If you’re familiar and confident with the latter, you can respond to anyone.

This should give you more than ample help. 👍
How should we respond to allegation that Catholics changed the Sabbath?

PM me if you need any other help. I’ve dealt with some SDA folks too.
Pax Domini sit semper vobiscum.
