True, but there are exceptions. In both Vancouver and Toronto you can find more traditional parishes which recite the Nicene creed, receive kneeling at the altar rail, chant the propers (in English or Latin), etc, etc. Such traditional trappings are nearly impossible to find in rural dioceses though. The cathedral in Vancouver, which was my parish for many years, is very traditional - the altar rail is consistently used, chant is heard every Sunday, extraordinary ministers are nearly unheard of, and the chalice is never administered. Very different story in my small hometown parish in the interior of BC… it seems bishops and priests elsewhere in Canada haven’t realized that tradition attracts. The Vancouver cathedral parish has flourished for years…7 packed masses on Sundays, 4 packed masses a day on weekdays, confession 6 days a week twice a day with big line ups…In Canada we’ve been using the Apostles Creed almost exclusively since 1975. We had an indult to do so but now no indult is necessary.
