In what ways does the authority of the apostles differ from the authority of our bishops today; the latter, who gained their authority from that of the apostles?
 
The Apostles could add to the deposit of faith by creating new Scriptures and Traditions. Today’s bishops cannot add to the deposit of faith; they can only maintain and explain it.
