C’mon, peeps, keep this thread light. It’s downright funny reading! I laughed out loud when I read about Arius getting punched in the face (and me with my pacifist convictions). Scared my dog. 🙂

So, do you think Jesus shouldn’t have yelled at the money changers, turned over their tables or beat them with a whip to chase them out of the Temple, because that wasn’t a ‘just’ expression of His anger? What should He have done, instead? Report them to the High Priest? 🤷
Being the Son of God his anger was justified. It provides a picture of how God feels about our desecration of his House.

I realize that, but the way Tony put it, we should never resort to ‘physical assault’ because it’s not a ‘just expression’ of anger per his definition. Jesus must disagree with that or He wouldn’t have given us that ‘expression’ of His anger as an example. I just thought what He did was to show us that even physical confrontation might be necessary in some instances. I would also think that picking up a whip and flogging the money changers certainly qualifies as a physical assault.

To put it in similar circumstances, if we walked into a church and found someone desecrating it, would it be a ‘just expression’ of anger to physically attack the person (or persons) that was desecrating it, in order to stop him, then chase them out? Or should we just let them continue, unhindered? I think I would probably try to do whatever I could to stop them. I might even resort to using a few ‘choice words’ to indicate my extreme anger to them. I do agree with Tony that we should never resort to killing anyone for doing something like that (IMO that’s a pretty extreme example), but I would have no problem with getting ‘physical’ if that’s what it took to stop them.

Just a thought. 🤷
