Hi. I’m trying to find info about current claimed apparitions of the Virgin Mary taking place in the US. They seem to have waned considerably since the mid-late nineties. Any links, info, etc., about current-day seers/visionaries would be appreciated.

Well, I saw her on a pizza I ordered. I tried to tell the paper, but they didn’t want a story about another cheezy shrine.

Check this site. There’ve been several claimed in the US, but I think most, if not all are unnaproved, or have had no action yet. (I don’t think we can link to any directly, since that would be promoting an apparition site)

Thanks, Jennifer. Yeah, I’d found that site, but it doesn’t seem particularly up to date, unfortunately. I appreciate the note, though. And yes, I just kind of clued-in to the fact that we’re not supposed to be discussing unapproved apparitions–which would certainly be the majority of modern-day ones. Sort of an odd prohibition, I think, in view of the wide latitude given to other subjects here–ghosts, new age religion, etc. Oh well, it’s not my website.
 
I think CAF’s rule is that unapproved revelations and apparitions cannot be *promoted *

As to the best site for up-to-date info on the status of apparitions, it’s that of the Mariology Center at the U of Dayton. See here

Pizza…HAHAHHA! That’s just as good as the Virgin being seen on a piece of toast! Oi.

I like the one of her on top of that Hispanic church (South America or somewhere). Fake or not, it was a beautiful picture.👍

And wasn’t she on the side of a building too?
 
frankly I would just ignore such claims, concentrate on Mass, the sacraments, daily prayer, daily examination of conscience, the rosary, works of piety, penance and charity, and conducting my life as a disciple of Christ living in hope of his return. We have affirmed messages from approved apparitions, which support what we already know from Divine Revelation, and until such an event is approved by the Church, I would ignore it, which is the advice of classic spiritual direction.
 
There are no apparitions in the United States accepted by the Church. There have been some that have been not accepted by the Church after investigation that it is best to ignore and in fact that are fading out of memory of anyone.
I have wondered why Mary appears in some countries rather than others, but I perhaps we will not know in this life. However, the apparition in Guadalupe, Mexico, was not meant just for Mexico but for North America, and perhaps we in the U.S. are called to special veneration to that.

Last I heard were the Conyers, GA thing. I remember several parishoners who used to flock there almost every weekend and try and get others to caravan with them. The guy brought back photos and videos of the sun dancing. I told him if you point a camera directly at the sun it will joggle because it is blinding you. I never paid attention to it…thought it was a load of hooey…but every weekend the same group would travel out there and return with a tale to tell.

I’m not interested from a devotional point of view; I’m doing some research. Even the approved apparitions have no devotional appeal for me. Not my cup of tea.

My family and I saw the sun dance there (in person), and another thing was that you could look directly at the sun dancing and it didn’t seem too “bright”. My vision wasn’t at all affected by looking at it for a long time like what normally happens, where you can’t see other things well afterwards. 🤷 But I think the official position on it right now is “no decision”. The Ukrainian Catholic Church (which is under Pope Benedict XVI) has gotten approval from their bishop to build a big cathedral-like church at the site.

They have a crucifix there that a medical investigation team examined during one of the apparitions. They got a pulse and heard the heart beating when the visionary reported that the corpus was coming alive in her vision (no one else saw Him come alive though). But these things are not something we are required to believe in. The official teachings of the Church and the Bible are the only things we *have *to believe. 🙂
 
OUR LADY OF AMERICA. Not presently, but in the late 1950’s and early 60’s by Sr. Mary Ephrem (Mildred Neuzil) I believe in Indiana and Ohio. HAS been approved by the Church at least the 1st couple of stages. You can find out more at www.ourladyofamerica.com The Statue of Our Lady of America is “traveling” at the present and was at St. Patrick’s Church in NY to commemorate 9/11 and will go on from there to different Catholic Churches. Don’t know if you are looking for the “here and now” or recent past apparitions.
