the question was what is the difference between someone serving their religion and someone serving their lord. now did i accuse you of being one or the other?
Not directly, but it was implied. At least it seems that way.
no, but someone did from your own flock.
Who was it? I believe that if someone strictly adheres to the rules, doctrines, and beliefs of the Church, that they are serving the Lord. Thank you.
i merely gave a scripture and you are immediately on the defensive.
I’m not all that defensive, really. I merely pointed out that without context, Jesus quotes aren’t all that effective.
why are you so afraid? are you afraid of me or of something i say?
Honestly, I don’t like spiders. They freak me out a bit. I’m afraid of what I’m supposed to do with my life. I’m afraid that I might make the same mistakes that my parents made. I’m a twenty something though, and I suppose that is what I’m supposed to worry about.
if any scripture offends you, then take it up with god. he said it, and i can care less if you or i believe it or not. it is his word that we need to share, not what the pope said, not what martin lloyd jones said, and so on.
I love God, I love the Pope, and I don’t know who Mr. Jones is but he can have a place in my heart too.
what does this scripture in john 5:39-40 mean , and then what does it mean to you?
Well, the fifth chapter of John first speaks of a miracle being performed on the Sabbath. Later on he is accused of breaking the Sabbath by performing miracles on said day. The verses that you asked about are included in a much larger rebuking of the religious elite by Jesus Christ himself. Jesus is saying exactly what he means. It is pretty cut and dry. The people he is speaking to don’t accept the scripture because they don’t accept Jesus. What does that mean to me? I don’t know why that is any different than my previous explanation. What does it mean to you?
2 timothy 2: 23 warns us about foolish and stupid arguments. so if you want to talk about the word of god, cool. but if you want to talk about your religion, your on your own.
My religion and the word of God are inseparable. Neither would exist without the other.
