One preacher here in the Philippines is claiming to be the Appointed Son of God. He claims to have received revelations from The Father but I don’t know who’s Father is he talking about. I just want to know if this man is an example of claiming to be God or what? He has many followers here in the Philippines. As far as I know, of all the claims I’ve heard of this one I think is the “wildest”. Their group is known as “The Kingdom of Jesus christ etc”. i just want to know what catholics especially those who are well versed in the bible say about this. Thanks and Peace to All 🙂

Without knowing more, I would say that he is the typical cult-type leader we see from time to time.

In the Bible, Jesus is the only Begotten son of the Father. We are, through baptism, adopted sons and heirs, but that is not the same.

In the Bible, Appointed would have the same type of emphasis as Anointed. Now, that does not seem like much, but the same language would be used for the Messiah.

I would stay away from him if you can.

I’ve heard about people like these, including a news report (Fox?) about one of them. He preached that there was no such thing as sin, that he was Jesus returned, etc.

He was also divorced. And when asked why he accepted as many gifts as he did, he said, “Well, Jesus did not turn the woman away when she washed his feet with her hair, so I don’t turn these people away, either.”

Yes, stay away.

Luke 21: 8: And He said, "See to it that you are not misled; for many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am He,’ and, 'The time is near ’ Do not go after them.

Luke 21:27: Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

(When Jesus returns, you’ll know. 😉 )

there are several anti-christs like him all over right now

In addition to his claims, he preached that the new jerusalem is found in the Philippines, on one of the mountains here. And that the church age is over, church is no longer needed. He claims that these are revealed to him by the Father. he has his own television network and been preaching for a long time now. We should be careful now because there are now many false prophets that are rising even now there is one claiming to be “Appointed Son of God”. The Holy Spirit will continue to guide the Church against these false prophets and false Christ 🙂

Then if any one says to you, ‘Lo, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There he is!’ do not believe it. 24 For false Christs and false prophets will arise and show great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect. 25 Lo, I have told you beforehand.
Matthew 24:23-25
