I’m so pleased today. I went to the 5pm mass as usual. And after the service screwed up my courage to speak to the priest and say I wasn’t a Catholic but was interested in it and didn’t know what steps to take. He was lovely, and took my details and invited me along to the Journey in Faith course in a few weeks. I know this probably seems like such a simple thing, but a)I have severe social anxiety and b) I have been looking at Catholicism for years, with some opposition from friends and family and haven’t known how to move forward. Today I feel like God has called me out of the tomb into the light. Just wanted to share, as this forum has been something of a lifeline to me over the years.

Great to hear. I was in the same place as you a few months ago. Try to learn as much as you can, read as much as you can, pray plenty and go to Mass as often as possible. The just take it one day at a time. Try praying to the Blessed John Henry Newman, a famous Anglican to Catholic convert who was a powerful intercessor for me in my own journey.

Praise God! Blessings with your journey into the church. It is a beautiful journey. I was confirmed about seven months ago (May 24 of last year. )

It’s so good to hear you received such a warm welcome from the priest. I hope you enjoy learning more about Catholicism.

God Bless,

Mary.

JoyToTheWhirled,

I can empathize with your feelings of anxiety. I just hate approaching folks, even those I kinda know. Good for you for finally letting go and talking with the priest. I’m glad to see it was a good experience.

May God bless you as you continue your journey.

Peace be with you Brother/sister JoyToTheWhirled.

You have started Celebrations and jubilation, not only on earth but in Heaven too.

We join each other in welcoming you to our family.

Dominus vobiscum.

Thank you all so much. I am so relieved and happy and all that good stuff! The proper start of my journey after years of waiting in the wings.

The Holy Spirit helped you with that very first anxious step. He will continue to guide you on your journey. Praise God…you’re coming Home!!

God Bless You
