Dear Brothers and Sisters,

The Church encourages us to keep celebrating Easter, by repeating the same hymns, psalms and antiphons we prayed in the Liturgy of the Hours, Morning Prayer on Easter. She does however vary the “Reading” and also the “Petitions” and the “Ending Prayer” for each day in the Octave.

It was a joy to hear these words in the Reading:
The word is near you, on your lips and in your heart (that is the word of faith which we preach). For if you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Faith in the heart leads to justification, confession on the lips to salvation. (Romans 10: 8b - 10)
Among the Petitions these 3 blessed me most:
You laid death low, and brought us new life,
__ grant that we may walk today in this new life

You gave life to the dead and led mankind from death to life,
__ give eternal life to all those we shall meet today

You brought confusion to the guards at Your tomb, but joy to Your disciples,
__ grant the fullness of oy to all who serve you.
And the Prayer:
Father, You gave Your Church constant growth by adding new members to Your family. Help us put into action in our lives, the baptism we have received with faith. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ Your Son, Who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
Much to ponder here and also in the Mass Readings which can be read at:

Mary our Mother given to us by Jesus, Who is The Word Made Flesh in your Womb by the power of the Holy Spirit, help us to LISTEN as you did and ponder all things in our hearts. Mother of God’s Word and Mother of our Faith, pray for us.

Dear Cath,

Thanks again for your “faith-full” and loving heart! It is always encouraging to find at least one! 🙂 Encouraging because It helps me to keep writing and praying that God will continue to give us all grace to Listen to His beautiful Incarnate Word, Jesus, coming through Mary. It is so important to Listen ,as Mary listened to all Jesus said and did, and to ponder all in our hearts. Not to ponder and then forget, or to ponder and then neglect or worse, refuse to obey, but rather by grace to become like Mary, our Mother and Model - a true disciple of Jesus who believes in Him, faithfully following Him to the end.

When I prayed Morning Prayer in the Liturgy of the Hours, for today, I was especially happy to see the references to our “New Life in Christ”, given in “Baptism” and the “gift of Faith” – Superntaural Faith which is God’s Gift that we might believe in Him together with Supernatural Hope that we might trust in Him and Supernatural Charity that we might love Him and all others because of Him. The sacrament of Baptism is such a miracle of Grace from God made possible by Jesus’ Life, Death, Resurrection and Ascension.

Cath, you and anyone reading this reply may be interested in an excellent article on Supernatural Faith and Natural Faith: see HERE
Many people have no knowledge of the difference between the two and it really is an important difference. Let me know, please whenever you have time if you read the article. If anyone has andy questions after reading the article I’ll try to answer as best I can. I am not the author but I have read his work before so may be able to help.

In the midst of our present trials all over the world, it is easy for some to become depressed and/or discouraged, but it seems to me we need to hear more deeply, Jesus’ words:
"When the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth? "

Read it and find it helpful for further research on that theme, it is something I am thinking about these days actually. Probably will read it again for some thoughts on that topic.

Thank you @MariaChristi for daily posts, I always find something significant for me to think about!
I can see how True devotion brings great fruits for anyone who reads, uses it and spreads it.

Thanks so much, Cath for your swift reply! Yes, that article deserves a second reading.

I agree that “True Devotion” and St. Louis de Montfort’s other works can bring great fruit to those who read and LIVE the Truth God gave to St. Louis de Montfort to share with the Church. It is a book that also deserves more than one reading! 🙂

St. Louis is not the only Saint who helps us of course, but he certainly stands out among Our Mother’s “Champions”. Thanks again, dear Cath!

Today is also the feast day of one of my favorite holy people, Blessed Margaret of Castello. She is patroness of the disabled, and of the unwanted. (Unfortunately too often those are the same.) Her body, I believe, is incorrupt. Look her up on the 'net.

excerpt from todays LOTH:

Second reading
From an Easter homily by Melito of Sardis, bishop
The Easter praise of Christ

…The Lord, though he was God, became man. He suffered for the sake of those who suffer, he was bound for those in bonds, condemned for the guilty, buried for those who lie in the grave; but he rose from the dead, and cried aloud: Who will contend with me? Let him confront me. I have freed the condemned, brought the dead back to life, raised men from their graves. Who has anything to say against me? I, he said, am the Christ; I have destroyed death, triumphed over the enemy, trampled hell underfoot, bound the strong one, and taken men up to the heights of heaven: I am the Christ.

Come, then, all you nations of men, receive forgiveness for the sins that defile you. I am your forgiveness. I am the Passover that brings salvation. I am the lamb who was immolated for you. I am your ransom, your life, your resurrection, your light, I am your salvation and your king. I will bring you to the heights of heaven. With my own right hand I will raise you up, and I will show you the eternal Father.

Peace

Dear MrZoom,

Thanks for your reply. I did look her up on the internet and her story is beautiful, as are all the stories of the Saints and Blesseds and so many holy men and women whose causes have been introduced. Their lives are like “shining stars” God gives us to light our way, to Him.

By the way her body was found incorrupt:
The preliminary steps toward the cause of her beatification were undertaken by the Dominican Order, but at various times it languished, until it was almost forgotten. During the sixteenth century, interest in her cause was rekindled after the discovery of her incorrupt body. On June 9, 1558, the bishop authorized the transfer of the Beata’s remains to a new coffin after it was noticed that the original one was rotting away. Article HERE

Vespers this week will continue to follow the form of Easter vespers as well :).

Thanks for the beautiful quote, especially the ending paragraph:
…Come, then, all you nations of men, receive forgiveness for the sins that defile you.
