Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Today’s Mass Readings – see: http://www.usccb.org/bible/readings/040720.cfm – are again chosen by the Church to help us enter into these Holy Days more prayerfully. Let us Listen to God’s Word, pondering all in our hearts as Mary did, that we may learn to know Jesus more and more as God reveals Him to us:
Jesus, we trust in You. Mary, Mother of the Church, pray for us.

As we Listen to the Gospel of John - 13:21-33, 36-38, let us open the “ears of our hearts” to hear Jesus testify:Hear me, O islands,
listen, O distant peoples.
The LORD called me from birth,
from my mother’s womb he gave me my name.
He made of me a sharp-edged sword
and concealed me in the shadow of his arm.
He made me a polished arrow,
in his quiver he hid me.
You are my servant, he said to me,
Israel, through whom I show my glory.
Though I thought I had toiled in vain,
and for nothing, uselessly, spent my strength,
Yet my reward is with the LORD,
my recompense is with my God.
For now the LORD has spoken
who formed me as his servant from the womb,
That Jacob may be brought back to him
and Israel gathered to him;
And I am made glorious in the sight of the LORD,
and my God is now my strength!
It is too little, he says, for you to be my servant,
to raise up the tribes of Jacob,
and restore the survivors of Israel;
I will make you a light to the nations,
that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth. - First Reading, Is. 49:1-6
May we mourn with Mary, our Mother not only the betrayal of Judas which Jesus revealed to John and to Peter, but also the 3 denials of Peter which Jesus reveals to Peter who boasted he would lay down his life for Jesus. How many times have we been like Judas and Peter – rather than like our Mother Mary who remained Faithful to the end ? Let us, weep as Peter did, repenting , and like John let us take Mary into our lives, to learn as Mary learned from Jesus.Reclining at table with His disciples, Jesus was deeply troubled and testified,
“Amen, amen, I say to you, one of you will betray Me.”
Jesus, we trust in You. Mary, Mother of the Church, pray for us.
