Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Today’s Mass Readings (see: http://www.usccb.org/bible/readings/040820.cfm) again give us much to ponder, but first I want to go back to yesterday’s thread for some words I added at the end of my reply to hazcompat:
Listening to the First Reading and the Responsorial Psalm today we know Mary heard those Scriptures and during this week perhaps she was “seeing by faith” the fulfillment of all Isaiah wrote about the Suffering Servant – her Son. who was the Promised Messiah, The Incarnate Son of God. By God’s Grace may we prayerfully Listen to the Scriptures preparing with Mary for the Triduum to come: Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday.

As I listened to the Gospel this morning, I could only speculate if Mary was at the Last Supper or not, the Gospel doesn’t mention her being there. Of course Mary had already received the Body and Blood of Jesus dwelling within her before He was born - He was conceived by the Holy Spirit in her womb. Mary’s presence in Holy Week is like most of her life, a hidden presence. However, she stands for all to see beneath His Cross and receives all of us from Jesus, as her own.The Gospels and Letters of the New Testament speak little of Mary and yet, as the Church received the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, the Holy Spirit worked in all of the members of the Church and continues to work in us all – bringing us into the fullness of His Truth which includes Mary.
Who went forth to the struggle with Christ as our Leader more perfectly than Mary our Mother and Model? Who stood at the foot of the Cross believing in Faith that He truly was God’s Son born of her by the power of the Holy Spirit? Mary saw Jesus die and believed He would rise because Jesus said He would. Mary’s Faith surpassed the Faith of the Ancients and our humble Mother reigns in Heaven now as Queen with her Son.
The Church and the world need the Immaculate Heart of Mary through whom Jesus will Triumph. Come Lord Jesus, Son of God and Son of Mary! Totus Tuus!
