I have been thinking about this since posting it and now it is to late to edit it so I am going to put my further thoughts that seem to contradict what I said in my last post. No, he shouldn’t, but that’s the different between sui iuris Churches. Another different is a different theological tradition and differences in more than just which liturgical rite.
For the Pope to spin off the TLM as its own sui iuris Church is to admit that Vatican II made significant changes in such things, which it did not no matter what some wish to tell us.
I do not see the Pope doing this as he is a supporter of Vatican II and is on record as saying that the Mass in the Vernacular is a good thing.
After posting this I started to think who what I said stands with the existence of multiple Byzantine Catholic Church. They share a Theological Tradition and Liturgical Tradition so the only differences I could come up with are 1) national boundaries and 2) patriarchal sees that they are affiliated with. Some of them share #2 and and some also have #1 that overlap (or so it seems).
So then I had to ask myself. If I am not against all these multiple Byzantine jurisdictions then why would I be against a TLM Church.
I have to say, in the fact of that argument that I dealt myself, I can not stand against it.
So then I have to ask this. Where would this Church be set up? Only in the USA? Worldwide? Where would the bishops for it come from? How would it be set up? Who would head it and where would that see be?
