I can’t link the licensed article, but I can say that there is a new method for disposition of a body, which is called aquamation. It’s used on pets and some states even allow it for humans: The body is dissolved in a heated solution of potassium hydroxide, and the liquified remains go down the drain.
I just heard of this and I’m sure the Church would not approve of this method.
I’m not sure if the topic is coming up at the amazon synod, but composting is another method for disposition of a body, legal in the state of Washington. Not sure what the practices are in the Amazon region.
