Hello everyone,

I still don’t see how his argument proves that God must carry out some kind of upkeep to maintain the universe, as that would require a detailed explanation of God’s nature, and not merely a deductive argument (7 premises does not a detailed explanation make). It’s likely that I’ve missed the point, however, so I’ll turn these ideas over in my head for a while.

That has never been an intention of St. Thomas, or a purpose of any of the proofs. The universe is simply a contingent effect. There will, one day, be and end-times for humans and, someday, an end-times for the universe. I hope I’m not here at least for the latter one!🙂
