what ever happened to the Arc?
Any suggestions?
I haven’t read the rest of the thread. I’m a wee bit late entering this thread.

The (New) Ark is in Heaven with Jesus and she loves us very much. She is our mother also! 🙂

Then God’s temple in heaven was
opened, and the ark of his covenant could
be seen in the temple. There were flashes
of lightning, rumblings, and peals of thunder,
an earthquake, and a violent hailstorm.
A great sign appeared in the sky, a woman
clothed with the sun, with the moon under her
feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars.

I know what you meant by your question. 😉 But since we no longer need the old ark, we have Mary. And of course Jesus would also be considered the Ark.

The question of what happened to the Ark is analogous to the question of “what happened to the Manna?”

The concept of the “Ark” is fulfilled in the person of the Blessed Virgin.

see this for more info.
That’s right. There is no need for the old ark because we have a new one!
The Ever Virgin Mary, Queen of Heaven and Earth! ❤️

I’m guessing that the whole “what happened to the Ark” thing is left up to personal interpretation, and is not in the category of dogma.
That’s because we already have a dogma on the Ark. The Virgin Mary!

Although I do not believe it, the Ethiopian Orthodox claim to the Ark is quite intriguing, and in my opinion, have the most (and it is obviously) very slim chance of having the ark on earth.

The fact that the Priest who guards the Ethiopians “ark” lives and dies without ever leaving the very small grounds on which it is supposedly located makes me think they definitely believe they have the ark, whether they do or not… it’s an interesting thought…

oy.
Care to elaborate? 🙂

I know you don’t believe this. 😉 But it’s true.

Why do you think this is such a mystery as to the location of the Ark to those who don’t believe that the Virgin Mary is the New Ark of the Covenant? The old one is no longer relevant as it has been fulfilled by Mary and even Jesus Christ Himself.

The Manna has been fulfilled by the Eucharist, being Jesus Christ Himself.

The Rod of Aaron has been fulfilled also by Jesus being the High Priest.

The Law has been fulfilled by the Word Himself who is Jesus Christ. He gave us the ultimate commandents or new Law, to Love God above all and to Love our neighbor as ourselves.

Who held these in her womb? Mary! Just like the old ark held those “types” in the OT, Mary held Jesus Christ in her womb as the “fulfillment” in the NT. Now she holds Him in her heart and soul.

You can’t get more fulfilled than that!! 👍

After Uzzah was struck down by God for touching the ark, David placed it in the care of Obed-Edom. It stayed there for three months during which time Obed-Edom’s whole family was blessed (2 Sam. 6:10,11). Likewise, after Mary conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, she went to visit Elizabeth for the same amount of time, and “the Lord…lavished on [Elizabeth] his faithful love” (Lk. 1:56-58). When the ark first came into David’s possession, he asked “How can the ark of Yahweh come to be with me?” (2 Sam. 6:9). Elizabeth asks much the same question, “Why should I be honoured with a visit from the mother of my Lord?” (Lk. 1:43). Then, “David danced…before Yahweh with all his might” (2 Sam.6:14). So too, “as soon as Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the child leapt in her womb and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit” (Lk 1:41). If Mary is indeed the ark of the living God, should she not be given even more honour and veneration than an ark constructed by human hands out of acacia wood? After all, Mary was fashioned by the hand of God himself. When Elizabeth realized this, she paid honour and respect to Mary, even though Mary had probably visited Elizabeth regularly prior to her pregnancy. All of a sudden she is “honoured” by her visit and proclaims her “blessed.” Elizabeth makes clear that she is referring to Mary, not the fruit of her womb, Jesus who of course is blessed above all (Lk 1:45).

🙂

Now consider the Watchtower’s lowly estimation of Mary:— “Over the centuries, one result of the Trinity teaching has been that the one true God Jehovah has been submerged in the quagmire of Christendom’s God-Christ theology. The next logical consequence of that theology was that if Jesus really was God Incarnate, then Jesus’ mother, Mary, was obviously the “Mother of God.” Over the years, that has led to veneration of Mary in many different forms, this in spite of the total lack of texts that speak of Mary in any role of importance except as the humble biologic mother of Jesus.”

Such language shows the utter contempt the Watchtower has for the mother of our Lord. Indeed, Holy Scripture shows just the opposite, since Mary was spoken of by the prophets (Is. 7:14;Mc. 5:1,2) and throughout the New Testament. If Mary did not have “any role of importance,” why then did the inspired writers of the Bible speak of her for more than 700 years? Even the archangel Gabriel spoke of Mary as one who enjoys “God’s favour” (Lk. 1:28).

Are we not to follow our Lord’s example (Heb 12:1,2)? Did He not tell us to keep the commandments (Mt. 19:17) and to “honour your father and your mother” (Mt. 19:19)? We know that Mary was His mother, and that He honoured her as such. If our Lord honoured His mother, should we dishonour her by accusing her of sin, sexual union with her husband, and unfaithfulness to our Lord. This is the tactic the Watchtower, and many Protestant sects, use to ridicule Mary’s holy name.

I got this off a Catholic apologist site - David Wesley.

He is so right on. Woe to the one who defiles her name.

http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i85/Alegre-Fe/Emoticons/Laughing.gif I know that much. As soon as I saw your “oy” my 13 year old said “vey!” http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i85/Alegre-Fe/Emoticons/Laughing.gif and we both laughed!

But it really is true about the New Ark being Mary! 😉 🙂

May the Holy Spirit come down upon you to enlighten you to the Truth. God bless you. :gopray:
I understand that is part of your doctrine. I had never heard that before coming to these boards. You cling to your metaphors and I’ll cling to mine 🙂

Merry Christmas to everyone, btw.

This always makes me angry because the WBTS has no idea of what the Bible actually says, they don’t know that Tradition is w/a capital “T”, and say that the CC makes up all the doctrines it uses… we are all mundane as they call us  “Mary couldn’t have stayed a virgin because she was married, the marital act was expected and Joseph had to take her as his wife, it’s what married people do” (this is where I’d use a smiley throwing up).

Here’s a story I heard at the Catechist Christmas dinner the Church held for us…

A Catechist lady went to the Kingdom Hall w/a friend and said that a man had a statue of Our Lady of Guadalupe, and walked up to the front. She said she was surprised to see that they’d have this there, so she kept on observing. This one man gave the statue to the elder, and the elder threw it on the ground so it’d break!! Everyone was clapping and full of “joy”. This lady (the Catechist) started crying because she felt horrible. She couldn’t believe they had done this to OLOG. She said all the JWs thought she was crying of joy… these people need to respect the fact that there are guests all the time and shouldn’t do these things, it’s so disrespectful. Do we at Mass grab their Bible and step on it? No, so why do they do that? LACK OF RESPECT, FULL OF HATE… That’s all these people have in their hearts… 😦

But they’re not metaphors.

Happy Hanukkah to you.

( :o did I spell that right?)

Mary was an actual ark?
If you use this definition of an ark:

Arks are vessels that preserve the divine against the dangers of the fallen world, such as Noah’s ark and that in which Moses was found among the bulrushes. The Ark of the Covenant (an elaborate chest wrought by the artists Bezaleel and Aholiab) held Moses’ broken tablets of the Law, Aaron’s rod, and a pot of manna; it was kept in the innermost sanctuary of a tabernacle.

Then, she was not metaphorically an ark, she was an ark.
She was a vessel that contained the Word of God, the “Word made Flesh”, Jesus Christ.

Hello,

I guess there is a story about what you are talking about in the Quran. I dont know why it is called an Ark but in the Quran it was called a coffin. Not a coffin to bury people but a big box.

The people of Israel said to a Prophet from them to send them a king to fight under his banner to get back the Holy Land. So he told them that God has sent them a man called ‘’ Tehalut’’ .

He wasn’t a popular man because he wasnt rich and from an elite tribe . I guess he was a carpenter or a Metal smith. So their prophet told them that there will be a sign of his kingdom.

This sign will be that the angels will carry back the coffin which has a remnants from the house of Moses and Aron.

The coffin had arrived and they began to march with their king.

This happened when david was a boy. This coffin is not mentioned any more in the Quran.

I dont know if that is the Arc or not .

salam

Then Moses’ mother was an ark. Eve was an ark. Sara was an Ark. They all preserved God’s divine plan. However, if I were to really view such people as “arks”, I could only do so metaphorically.
