Skeptics have long derided Biblical accounts of a Kingdom in the era of David and Solomon. Their claims of “no evidence” may get quieter in the future if recent archaeological finds are permitted to go public. However, for unknown reasons, Israeli authorities are keeping lid on an archaeological find that may turn out to be a royal castle from David’s time.

Major archaeological find.

When field Director Yaron Rosental contacted the Israel Antiquities Authority to inform them of the find, the person he spoke to simply said – “Yaron, good for you. You found it, but we already are aware of it. Now forget about the whole thing and keep your mouth shut.”

Hmmm 🍿

Interesting. I wanted to be an archeologist when I was little. Then I found out I might have to touch a mummy or some other dead thing. After that I preferred just listening and reading about history.

Maybe we can finally find some evidence of the Exodus?

No? Nobody? No? Guess not.

We do have evidence of the Exodus: the texts of the Bible.

However, if you’re looking for some artefacts from over three thousand years ago that would demonstrate that a group of Hebrews crossed the desert and wandered for forty (technically, thirty-eight) years in the wilderness, I think you’ll be hard pressed.

I think there is archaeological evidence mentioned in a book by Anderson (mention of the invading Hebrews, etc. by Canaanite sources) but I can’t remember if it’s Bernhard W. Anderson or G.W. Anderson - it’s been a while since I read the book and those two always get me confused!

    The Exodus: six hundred horses?
When the king of Egypt was told that the people had fled, the mind of Pharaoh and his servants was changed toward the people, and they said, “What is this we have done, that we have let Israel go from serving us?” So he made ready his chariot and took his army with him, and took six hundred chosen chariots and all the other chariots of Egypt with officers over all of them.
    Exodus 14:5-7

According to the Bible, as the Hebrews left Egypt, Pharaoh changed his mind and sent 600 chariots to chase the runaway slaves. Could 600 be a biblical exaggeration?

In 1997, on the site of the city of Ramses II, German archeologists unearthed the foundations of an ancient stable. By the end of the dig, they had found enough stables for at least 500 horses and chariots.

  1. Wow, cool. Gonna take some time to look through all of that!

Have we got any evidence of their path through the desert yet or is Satan still hiding that?
