Can anyone tell me anything about the fourth archangel uriel? I’ve read some things about him, but have often wondered why they have virtually dismissed him. I’m not so sure I understand the reasoning for his lack of mention.

I don’t know who “they” is but since he is not mentioned in the canonical scriptures, perhaps “they” don’t talk about him as much as Michael, Raphael and Gabriel, the angels who are mentioned in sacred scripture.

Archangel Uriel is mentioned in Second Ezdras, which is in the LXX.
 
The archangel Uriel is mentioned in the Book of Enoch. It is not part of our canon of scripture. I suppose the book would be worth reading though. There were many biblical books not included in the Bible I will see if I can dig some info an this Archangel. Also in the book of Enoch there mentioned of 2 other Archangels besides Uriel.
 
My first thought on this is that the Archangel Uriel was mentioned or known in Jewish tradition. That is about as far as I can go. I will look forward to subsequent posts on this as I would like to know more.

Same here.

I have heard that this Archangel is linked to the Kabbala and Rabbinical Judaism. As far as I’m aware, his name does not appear in any of the accepted Canonical books; although he has been mentioned in other books which we do not accept as part of our Canon of Scripture. For this reason, I am more inclined not to believe in an Archangel named Uriel.

The only angels we can believe in with certainty are St. Gabriel, St. Michael, and St. Raphael. Mention of others, apart from our Guardian Angels, comes from documents that are not accepted by the Church.
 
I have heard of Uriel in connection with the Mormon religion.
 
The alleged angel connected with Mormonism is named Moroni. If there is an angel by this name, my thoughts would be that he is a fallen angel because Mormonism is certainly at odds with just about everything we believe a Catholics. One that certainly seems to be trying to lead astray.

this is all very interesting. I am inclined to say that I agree with dempsey1919. I believe the “they” I am referring to is those who say what is accepted in canonical books. I know i read something to this effect, but I don’t know where. I am planning on asking my former pastor when I have a chance. he is very knowledgeable in these areas. the only thing is since he has retired I don’t get a chance to see him very much, but I will ask him first chance I get.
