I am sorry to see him retired, but he can use his gifts
elsewhere. I think he was a wonderful Bishop for Denver and Philadelphia.

I am sorry he was not made a Cardinal.

However, I think that in addition to the political business, his health has been a little shaky lately and he may be ready to take on a lighter schedule.
He also knows and likes his replacement, they worked together before.

Yes, I had always hoped he would be made a Cardinal
also, but time passed too quickly I guess.

I am devastated. My son was confirmed and served with him on the altar. He remembered how pious my son was on his confirmation day. When he saw him again, he had his picture taken with him, and the Archbishop said, “I hope you consider joining the priesthood. We need more priests like you.” Sure enough, he’s wanted to join since 5th grade.

There was plenty of time, but there was no will to make him a cardinal. What an opportunity missed. He would have been the first Native American cardinal.
But…there were so many others…

It is a bit bothersome that with Pope Francis’ great support of indigenous peoples, he missed the chance to make a Native American Cardinal.

Oh well, Archbishop Sheen also didn’t get to be Cardinal, and he’s light years ahead of the guy who did.
