Here is the prepared text of the homily delivered by Archbishop Timothy M. Dolan of New York at the funeral liturgy Dec. 16 in Philadelphia for Cardinal John P. Foley, former president of the Pontifical Council for Social Communications and grand master of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem.

I watched the funeral Mass live on EWTN. Very beautiiful-except I didn’t really care for the lady cantor. She drowned everyone else out.

I very much enjoyed Archbishop Dolan’s homily. He’s such a great preacher!

I also went over to his blog and gave him a compliment!

The parts that caused me to tear up were at the end, when the seminarians carried the Cardinal’s coffin into the crypt below the High Altar and the ‘Tu Es Sacerdos Magnus’ and ‘Salve Regina’ were sung a’capella (either by the male singers in the choir or the clergy who were present, I’m not sure which).
