I’ve heard that papal master of ceremonies Archbishop Piero Marini has been relieved of his duties by the Holy Father who reportedly prefers a more traditionally inclined MC and more “Roman” papal liturgies. Anyone know if there’s any truth to this? 😃

If this is true, this is an interesting sign.

It is standard practice that the heads of all dicasteries and those in positions at the Vatican submit their reignations to the new pope as he takes office. Since Archbishop Marini has held this post for many, many years he expects to retire to to something else and it is from the “general church reporting” reporters that his position as well as several others will be changing as soon as the pope gets around to making new appointments. This takes time and should be viewed IMHO as “standard operating procedure”. No more, no less.
