It’s always great to see a church leader with a spine. Fantastic!

If Cantebury had this much spine years ago, we would indeed be in a different world. As it is, I highly doubt it will sway the Lords Temporal to change their votes. The Church of England as a moral force seems moribund.

Well he has taken his time! He should have been far more vociferous before this stage, it might have had more of an effect. To leave it till the House of Lords stage may be too little too late.

He has been consistent, hasn’t he? He has taken this position all along. He hasn’t ‘left it till the House of Lords stage’ but, of course, as a member of the House of Lords he has spoken in the Lords debate. Even when you agree with him you must attack him? Why is that?

I am sorry if I seemed to be attacking him, on a personal level I am not. But I do feel that he could have been much more prominant in voicing his opposition

It didn’t seem to me that you were attacking anyone. I feel the same frustration with some of our bishops. I wish they would become more public in condemning our Catholic politicians who make public policy in contradiction to our faith. A couple of public excommunications might give them something to think about.

I wonder what PB Catherine and TEC think of all this? They are supposed to be in communion with Cantaur, but have very different ideas on the subject.

Will this be the straw that broke the Anglican camel’s back?
