I think with the Church here. I was an active member of the Right to Life movement in the 1980’s and our general hope and belief was that what we were doing was the answer to eliminating abortion in society. Fast forward 40 years abortion has grown to be deeply rooted as a ‘constitutional right’. So while I know abortion as a disease, a cancer on society I believe evangelization needs to focus on the toxic aspects that have lead to the cancer.

Yes I agree. Evangelization is what is most urgently needed right now. Strike at the root.

From the article:

“Such is our world! Effective moral action, whether private or political, is made far harder by Catholic leaders who rant on about the totality of human good in such a way that no particular good can ever be prioritized.”

It seems the “seamless garment” approach always resurfaces as a method to convince Catholics to disregard the importance of abortion as a human rights and life issue. But I am saddened that a prelate like Cardinal Paglia would use the same approach to discourage Catholic pro-life efforts.

Cardinal Paglia, meet Sister Deirdre Byrne.
