I am somewhat in the process of establishing the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass according to the Extraordinary Form in my parish and have a few questions about the servers.
1. How should our altar boys go about being trained as our priest isn’t familiar with serving the TLM?
2. Does anyone recommend starting the Guild of St. Stephen at my parish for the TLM?
3. What is needed to start my TLM servers with the guild?
4. What items are needed to buy for our servers for the guild?
5. Any other info on tips for training servers for the TLM and/or the Archconfraternity of St. Stephen, and getting people to attend the TLM would be extremely appreciated.

P.S. The items needed to be purchased for the Latin Mass at my parish come to about $8,000. Any tips on how to raise the money? Our Pastor is against fundraisers and one of the won’t happen with his permission. Thanks and God Bless!

Hello and God bless you!

This is quite coincidental. I was just reading about the Archconfraternity of St. Stephen just a few hours ago!

I have been an altar boy for the Latin Mass for the past two and a half years. While the Archconfraternity was not started at my Parish I think it would be of great benefit to your boys.

There are many resources online for learning, celebrating, and understanding the Latin Mass. One such resource is Sancta Missa. It also includes a manual for the Archconfraternity.

In many older videos of Masses, one might recall seeing some of the older lads vested in Cassock, Surplice, and a red cord going down their backs. That red cord and medal is needed for the vesting of a boy associated with the guild.

The links provided will be of more benefit to you than I can.

I’ll be praying for the success of your boys and our mass!

Thanks for the info!
Thanks especially for the prayers!

I would recommend waiting on the St. Stephen Guild until you have a more established LMC. And purchase items on eBay whenever possible.

Do have any suggestions on how to train our servers as our chaplain didn’t grow up serving at the TLM? Thanks and God Bless! 😃

I have been training servers for the old Mass for over twenty years. You need at least one person who knows how to do it. Also, sanctamissa.org and Angelus Press both put out good materials.

I Have been on a weekend courses on how to serve the Traditional Latin Mass .

I would personally be more concerned that the Priest be trained and knowledgeable than the servers They and I messed up quite a bit back iin the day

Man did we ever:thumbsup:
