What is going on in the Archdiocese of Westminster? John Smeaton, head of the Society for the Protection of Unborn Children, has written about a conference happening at the end of next week (link to blog with more details at end):

Archbishop Vincent Nichols’ pastoral centre to host conference for dissenting Catholic gays

Next week Quest, “a group of lesbian and gay Catholics”, will be holding its annual conference. The conference venue is the All Saints’ Pastoral Centre at London Colney. The centre is both owned by, and part of, the Catholic Archdiocese of Westminster, headed currently by Archbishop Vincent Nichols. Quest’s website gives a clear indication of how Quest and those commentators who support it dissent defiantly from Catholic teaching on sexual ethics:
  • "Homosexual sex is not an incomplete or less perfect expression of human sexuality … I also want to affirm that I regard heterosexual and homosexual sex as having the same potential and value … I disagree fundamentally with Church teaching on this issue."
  • "The teaching of the Vatican Congregations…is incompatible with the Gospel"
  • "Quest, an association for lesbian and gay Catholics, welcomes in general the government’s proposals to provide for legal recognition of same-sex partnerships."
…Here are the clear instructions of Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger (now Pope Benedict XVI) as Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith in a 1986 letter to all the world’s bishops regarding homosexuals [my emphasis in bold]:

“All support should be withdrawn from any organizations which seek to undermine the teaching of the Church, which are ambiguous about it, or which neglect it entirely. Such support, or even the semblance of such support, can be gravely misinterpreted. Special attention should be given to the practice of scheduling religious services and to the use of Church buildings by these groups, including the facilities of Catholic schools and colleges. To some, such permission to use Church property may seem only just and charitable; but in reality it is contradictory to the purpose for which these institutions were founded, it is misleading and often scandalous”.

Hard to get non-Catholics to take Church teaching on homosexuality seriously if our own authorities don’t seem to. Please pray for the people involved in this.

These YouTube clips suggest they’ve had similar stuff going on in Westminster for a while?

Archbishop Vincent Nichols on the possibility of the Church blessing gay unions
Archbishop Vincent Nichols on gay civil partnerships
Archdiocese of Westminster’s regular Masses for the “LGBT community”
Archbishop Vincent Nichols on critics of the regular LGBT Mass

I guess stuff like this and the Boston case just makes me wonder if Western bishops aren’t pushing the line to see how far they can go. Who can we write to about this?

I continue to say this, the leaders of the Church are in need of repentance. until they do this they will continue in scandals.

the holy father is warning all Catholics to avoid such dissenters and their places, I just wondering how many Cahtolics are getting this message. I think that many bishops are probably blocking these messages.

There should be a public exposure of these dissenters for everyone to hear. but the mute conitnues since VII, it seems since then, many bishops are just paralyzed in fear.

Every Bishop and Priest in support of this should be excommunicated. Period. Let a few (hundred, thousand, whatever) heads roll and maybe the ship might start turning in the right direction.

The public support for Catholic groups and affiliates which promote the homosexual lifestyle has been going on from the time of Cardinal Cormac Murphy O’Connor, former Abp of Westminster. The situation has continued under Abp Nichols.

What do you hope to achieve? According to this article written in 2001, England is a club Vatican cannot break into. I did not believe it then but, I am inclined to do so now following a recent event relating to Cardinal Burke’s last-minute cancellation at a London conference.

I think that our Leaders failed to purge evil from teh beginning, now they have permeated pretty much everywhere.

From the beginning Our God has instructed the Israelites to purge the evil from amongst them. Our Lord Jesus did the same, yet our leaders in disobedience to our Lord have not done so, that is why we are in so much trouble.

👍

I’m not sure how much is fear or tactic support.
