Repetition is not only a fine touch in our liturgies. I believe it is an essential part of our liturgies that form part of its identity. And such an ambiguous designation like “unnecessary” is really contrary to Eastern Theology. Eastern theology is about the mystery, not what is necessary or unnecessary for validity.

I can only imagine what the Divine Liturgy of St John Chrysostom would look like if every repetition was eliminated. 😦
 
I am currently leading a Bible study on the Psalms. There is nothing in the world more repetitious than Hebrew prayer. It seems like eliminating repetitions is the work of Philistines who don’t understand how poetry works.

Well if you’d like to see the Anaphora I’ve actually been working on a parallel comparison of a translation I did from Syriac of an older version and our current version… suffice it to say it makes me very sad.

The Syriac churches are unique as their Liturgies and hymns use the same poetic techniques as the Psalms.

Both Syriac and Hebrew are Semitic languages.

Why do the Eastern and Oriental Churches in communion with Rome continue to shorten or modernize their Liturgies? I heard the new Chaldean Patriarch wants to modernize the Chaldean Qurbana as well. 😦
 
There is nothing in the world more repetitious than Hebrew prayer.
The flexibility of the plus size lingerie which has been used for making this kind of lingerie is not good.
