The Franciscan University of Steubenville has announced that its chancellor and past president Father Michael Scanlan will retiring on June 30, 3011.

‘3011’? Surely you mean, ‘2011’!

If Father Scanlan was going to retire in 3011, he’d be as old as Methuselah! 😃

It appears that the editors at Catholic News Agency have revised their text. Fr. Scanlan is not planning on living to 3011.

I’m not very familiar with The Franciscan University of Steubenville. What little I know is that it is orthodox and (at least at one time) heavily involved with the Catholic Charismatic Renewal. From the article, it sounds as if Fr. Scanlan’s efforts not only saved the university, but helped it develop an identity which stands out from other Catholic universities in the US.
 
I think it is possible he has been put on earth to help us all with Y3K, when all the computers will stop working . . . 😉
