While someone like Muhammad obviously is a particularily polarizing figure, I think that the Buddha was basically a very good man, not to mention that many of his teachings are rather Christ-like in nature.

I’m afraid I have overlooked that. I don’t reject Buddha outright, and there are some posters here like AJtheman, and more that have given me reasons to re-evaluate my position, or at least adjust it. But to be honest, I don’t know of any personally and most importantly, they are not trying to change/influence the political climate in my country.

Did Buddha teach the resurrection of the body so that we may be reunified with the Lord in the cleansed image of God we were made in?

If you’re referring to the right-wing evangelicals/charismatics, I can assure you those people are generally far from true Christianity.

Well, be that as it may they are a large voting force here in the US and we can’t overlook that.
It did for a moment make me think of the No True Scotsman argument, but I won’t go there since I have more sympathies with the ancient churches anyway.

Honestly I think a lot of their power is imaginary. I remember after reading The Dark Side, which talks of Evangelical power conspiracies, I crunched some numbers using valid poll sources, and found that most of the claims made by people who think Evangelical/Charismatic power groups have voting power is only true if you look at half the facts.

Hey, I am not being sarcastic in the least. And I agree that if they do have any type of power, it seems to go nowhere fast.

I think I should PM you my concerns about that movement in terms of politics.

I recently did a blog post on one such false prophet who claimed to receive revelations from God via an angel. My conclusion was basically the same as how I feel about most false prophets: if they truly are being deceived by demonic forces, then I pray for their deliverance; if they are blatantly lying and know it, then I pray for their repentance. Are all false prophets intentional? Only God really knows the nature of their hearts, but either way they are still committing error, and while we love the erring there is no obligation to love the error.

Sometimes the followers are even more dangerous. I know people who think Benny Hinn is a true apostle and react violently in discussion if you suggest he might be heretical or acting against the word of God. Such people I truly pray for. As Christ said, His sheep know His voice and they follow him (John 10:3), and if they hear a stranger’s voice they do not follow but run (10:5) because they know any one else is a thief and robber (10:8).

We know there are people with mental disorders in the world, we know there are people who have been led to believe what they believe, and we know there are people who lack the intellectual capacity to understand. Under these circumstances, are they false prophets we read about? How do we, as Christians, distinguish the difference between the unlearned, unstable, unwise and the ‘intentional’ false prophet? How should we respond to the differences we, feel we, recognize?

Remember, the Lord prayed for those who persecuted Him…

Since the beginning there has been a constant war between Satan and God. At the time of casting away satan from Heaven, God did not punish him by taking his powers but left them with him to see what else he us up to. As for Satan, he wants to win at any cost by maximising his hold on the souls of the people, which Thanks to Jesus, has been jeapordized, but than he has not given up hope, hence all the false prophets who try their maximum best to help satan in his quest.
