I just wanted to know if for example: is pornography less of a mortal sin then something like murder? I know both can be forgiven but just wanted to know?
Ahh… you took my example.I am reminded of the question, ‘which is worst, being killed by a head shot from a bullet, or being killed under the wheels of a speeding truck’? Either way the result is ‘permanent’ death.
Pornography, though always a grave matter, is not always a mortal sin. If a person has an addiction it lessens thier free will and reduces it to a venial sinI just wanted to know if for example: is pornography less of a mortal sin then something like murder? This is true in many cases to a point…but only to a point.Pornography, though always a grave matter, is not always a mortal sin. If a person has an addiction it lessens their free will and reduces it to a venial sin
I take your point about levels of insideousness - but don’t forget that these degrees of ‘habit’ are in accordance with the perceptions and emotions and temptations of the individual and these may and do vary. -Also the danger is this side of life, once consigned to Hell it is effectively for that individual, ‘game over’. :sad_bye:Ahh… you took my example.
When I hear questions like this it always makes me shudder. Why? Because some mortal sins are more insideous. Most people know in the depth of their souls that taking a life is bad, but “lesser” sins??? Too often we use comparisons like this just to justify the lesser sin. That allows those sin to more firmly anchor their hooks into us as they drag us to hell.
While there are different levels of gravity (e.g. theft is less grave than murder) it doesn’t really matter because whatever mortal sin is committed if you die in that state you go to Hell.I just wanted to know if for example: is pornography less of a mortal sin then something like murder?
